My alarm went off at the ungodly hour of 7am. On a Monday of all days. I went more into my cocoon of blankets but the sound outside my door made me rise. Today was the day. I ate my breakfast, talked with my mom and enjoyed some TV. I had gotten prepared the night before. I didn’t need my binder so I packed a book, pencil and sketchbook. A lunch of course as well. As I got ready I frantically texted a group chat with my friends saying I was walking, in hopes to not get forgotten again. Today was it. We were going to Northwestern. As I went over this thought I said goodbye to my mom and sister. Soon my friends arrived. Avery and Sarah laughed and talked with me, all of us wondering the same thing. We walked to our old school. We had to meet there and be bused to the new place. The name left a bad taste on my tongue. I grouped up with more and more friends and classmates. Before I knew it we were shoved onto a bus and on the move. After a few minutes it came into view. As we piled out of the bus a teacher gathered my class up. I felt unsafe. Like I was on a new planet. Except now I was the invader. We entered and walked down long, narrow halls till we found a random room to call our own. I went straight to the window seat. For the next four periods we all sat and played games. Lunch rolled around and we wandered the halls. I didn’t see any native students to this school. Then period 5-6 there was a guest speaker. He was very interesting, an explorer, but I would have rather been home. Then I was. Instead of being bused back to my old school to walk, me and Ava walked home. As we did a school bus passes by. We saw Julia giving us the most confused look through the window, sending me and Ava into a fit of laughs. After walking we said our goodbyes and I entered my home. I had survived. I hated it. I was not excited for the next year. But as long as I had my friends, I knew I would be just fine.
