“Alright, I think that’s enough for one day…” I groaned as I stretched my arms above my head before tossing my textbook to the nightstand with a light thunk, “I think I could use a coffee…”
It was an early evening the night before fall term exams and both Sully and I had been locked up in our rooms all day studying. I sighed as I turned on the coffee maker and pulled a mug from the cupboard before leaning on the countertop. We had just admitted how much we like each other recently and yet we still weren’t ‘together’… With a gentle stir granules of sugar and swirls of cream disappeared into the coffee being replaced by a warm brown.
“Damn exams…” Sully muttered as he hobbled to the kitchen pouring him own cup coffee not bothering with the cream or sugar as he took a large gulp from his cup not seeming to mind the scalding heat of it. He turned to me looking out of sorts as he took my face between his palms as I gaped at the mess of a boy, “You’re really beautiful, you know…”
A light heat found my cheeks as I smiled down at him grabbing his hands in my own, “Not as beautiful as you…” I pecked his forehead before herding the boy back to his room, “If you’re this stressed, why don’t you take a nap? I’ll handle dinner tonight…”
“You’re not going to put cereal in the microwave, are you?”
“Why would I put cereal in the microwave?” I deadpanned before pulling the covers up to the brown-haired boy’s chin, “Don’t-- did you do that…?” I asked with a shake of my head, “And, here I thought you were the best at cooking…”
Sully flushed as he pulled the blanket over his nose, “I never said I was the ‘best’…” He mumbled with a pout, “I was a kid once…”
“I want to see that…” I muttered to myself as I started back toward the kitchen, “I can at least make instant food…”
“What was that first part…?”
“Oh, nothing important…?” I hummed with a snicker as I imagined what the child Sully must have looked like, “Nothing that concerns you anyway…!”
