"Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never a honest word
And that was when I ruled the world"
Bang! Bang! Crash!
The hoodlum dropped dead as the blonde man turned around. "Y-you killed him", he said. Mortimer raised his eyebrows, sighed, and brought back his pistol in his holster. "Excuse me, princess. I saved your life" Mortimer said, "like you didn't beat up the other rascal"."I just knocked him unconscious, there could been another way to end this with no casualties" the blonde man attempted to explained. Mortimer massaged his forehead with his fingers and sighed once more, "There was no other pacific path, dumbass. you could either been dead or alive".
The blonde man took a sad glimpse on the man bleeding in the floor in front of him and admitted, "Alright, there is no use crying over spilled milk anyways. It is bound to happen". Mortimer nodded his head akwardly as both walk out the alley way and resumed to the streets, he noticed the man is now following him. "So.. what's your name?", he forced to say as if he was friendly. "Oh, of course! How rude and silly of me!", The man smiled very genuinely and reached to shook Mortimer's hands by force, "My name is Sachiel!".
"Sachiel? That's a.. rare name", uttered Mortimer. He winced, withdrawed his hands, and pondered for a second the unexpected strength from Sachiel, "uh, you're quite stro--". "Thank you for saving my life! It's drastically harder to find some decent and friendly folks in this place than most places I have been", sighed Sachiel, "I am very lucky to meet you! Mister..". "Mortimer Terrance", he said hesitatedly.
A piercing glare came from Sachiel than unsettled Mortimer, "Hmm.. that's why you're face is familiar". Mortimer, admittingly afraid of the man he saved could be a law enforcer and as anxious when reminded of his tax evasion, defended himself. "For your information, I h-have a twin you know", stuttered Mortimer, "used my own name and framed me for crimes". He brought back his composure as Sachiel's facial expression changed to suprise. "A twin brother?", Sachiel asked with interest.
Mortimer was at the moment intimidated by a man that is inches shorter than he is. He seen this short man fight and he knows he is not as good in arm to arm combat, and the man is too close to him and could disarm his pistol in a jiffy. He covered up his signs of discomfort and avoided the topic.
"It's a long story, enough about me. Can you state why are you here?".
"Ah, you see..", Sachiel paused and seems to struggle what to say, "I think you wouldn't believe me.. but I dropped of from high ground". "What? How high?", Mortimer asked confused. "I.. Um.. fell from the sky", Sachiel said. Mortimer becomes baffled and snickered, "Pardon? Are you drugged?" You should be dead if you fell from the sky".
"Allow me to introduce myself properly, I am archangel, Sachiel, I got send here to hunt down and stop the fallen angel and a demon who is planning to wreck havoc in earth and is said to be living here", Sachiel explained further. Mortimer wants to laugh to the ridiculous backstory that was just told to him, the man is a certified looney. But he felt like he wouldn't like the feeling of making mini Jackie Chan angry. So he hold it in but wanted to slip some sarcasm.
Mortimer raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "everyone in this place is an evil entity if you got to live here long enough, buddy". "But you're not evil", said Sachiel. Mortimer paused and, instead of feeling complimented, is a bit insulted, "Do you know I was a powerful mob leader?". Sachiel friendly persistent smile faded but came back in a second and smirked, "was, it's in the past right?".
"Bold of you to assume I don't have a evil bone in my body anymore", Mortimer replied in an attempt to intimidate. "tsk, tsk, but you saved me, right?", said Sachiel with a cocky wink. "Well--"
"But you don't have to be afraid of me, I won't knock out the person who saved me in the first day here", interrupted Sachiel .

The assertive statement Sachiel made Mortimer's large portion of ego hurt.
"What are you even argumenting for?", Mortimer asked bitterly. "I'm not argumenting, I'm saying the truth to you", Sachiel said earnestly, "And even you were bad, I believe you have a good soul!". Mortimer became increasingly disgusted over Sachiel's warm attitude and assertiveness and walked faster.
"Uh, Morty. Can I called you that?", Sachiel said as he sped up. "Do you have places to be, for god's sake?", grunted Mortimer, "You are creeping me out!".
"Morty-"
"Call me Terrance, I don't like being called Morty", mumbled Mortimer, "it doesn't fit me". "Terrance, I don't want to be a burden but I need somewhere to stay", requested Sachiel.
Mortimer laughed, "Do I look like an damn orphanage for grown adults?". "They say I would meet a good soul that will let me stay", said Sachiel as he gave Mortimer the puppy eyes. The baby blue eyes gives it a more pitiful effect. Mortimer rolled his eyes. As he rolled his eyes to another planet, he sees his surroundings and realized he is now in the front of the destination he should be. "Oh god, I let this loon really follow me to my home", thought Mortimer.
"Hey GRUMPY!"
A stone hurled towards Mortimer's left eye as Mortimer screamed in agony.
"what the hell!", Mortimer yelled and looked at his bully. The girl in a newsboy cap and green jumper sitting at his cousin's garage put her tounge out to tease him.
"Nora, why did you have to do that?", Richard came out with a stained jumper suit, finished from mechanic work. He looked at Mortimer and approached him, "I could recognize that girly scream everywhere! haha". Mortimer reaches his hand for a handshake but is pushed back instead by his relative's hug. Mortimer patted the back of his cousin and released himself from the embrace.
"Why is she here?", Mortimer angrily whispered to Richard. "Uh, Auntie adopted her", Richard said casually. Mortimer became suprised and asked, "What? When?". "Just yesterday, man", his cousin replied, "her adoptive guardian died of poisoning and the killer was not found". "Are you sure she didn't poisoned the man herself?", Mortimer glanced as Nora inches closer. "Come on, Morty. She has a tough life, Auntie really feel bad and like the poor girl", Richard pointed out dissaprovingly.
"Heyy, Morty. Who's the cute guy?", Nora asked as she points her lips to Sachiel standing patiently in Mortimer's back. Sachiel bursted out and reached to handshake Richard, which pushed aside Mortimer by force and made him jump aside, "Oh, hello! My name is Sachiel! You must be his family!", . "Ooh, you brought home somebody?", teased Nora,"Sweet, So you're not a lonely anymore?". "Wha- I'm not lonely you little- *sigh* I didn't mean to bring him here!", Mortimer said as he tries to lower his blood pressure, "He kept following me!".
"I though he's just a unsettling bystander", Richard scratched his head and conversed to Sachiel, "Uh..so Sachiel.. why did you followed him? Are you going to arrest my cousin?".
"No, actually, this man saved my life!", beamed Sachiel, "since he's the only friend I made this far, I believe Morty here could help me with looking for a place to stay". "Wow.. That's suprising", Richard laughed, "You're really changing into a new leaf, huh?".
Damn it, I didn't even agreed to this, thought Mortimer. "of course, you think I was not serious?", Mortimer said, adjusting his overcoat. Nora raised an eyebrow and inches closer to Sachiel, "Hi! Nora here! I like your eyes!". "Hello, Nora! you have nice emerald eyes too", he complimented back.
"Nah, my eyes just have contact lenses"
"what are contact lenses?"
"Uh, there are like.. to make my vision better without glasses.."
Look at these two children, atleast there are someone else for Nora to bother at the moment. "Is auntie here?", Mortimer asked. "Yeah she's in the kitchen", Richard said, "she must be done cookin' now".
"Ahhh Mortimer! you grown big, my boy!", a female voice boomed that can be heard in the whole nieghborhood. "Hello, auntie--"
Mortimer is interrupted to speak as a fat black motherly woman squeezed him in a tight hug. Sachiel stopped talking in the background looked.
"I cannot breathe for the love of everything that's holy", said Mortimer. "Ooh, I remember when you were just a fat baby, you're towering now!", said the woman as she released her nephew.
Mortimer takes a deep breath to regain oxygen. "Have you eaten? you became more lanky and lean! not to mention your eyes looked like you haven't sleeped fo' weeks!", scolded the aunt. "Yes, that's good to know", Mortimer replied still gasping for more air.
The black aunt was about to say a story when she saw Sachiel staring at the two. "Who are you?", she asked as she raises her eyebrows.
"oh, nice to meet you! I am--"
"He's Sachiel, I saved his life, think's I'm his friend, and wants free rent apparently", Mortimer summarized. Sachiel frowned a bit about the free rent part, but he realized something, if I tell them I am an archangel and state my true purpose, they won't believe me like Mortimer does.
"I am a lost refugee from another country, I cannot find a job and I hope I can find a good soul that can help me, like Mortimer here", explained Sachiel. Wait that was not what he said earlier, Mortimer thinked to himself.
"Hm-hmm", the aunt posed and scanned Sachiel head-to-toe, "looks like you do need help". "Wait, are you sure?", both Richard and Mortimer asked with confusion. "So, What can you contribute in this little home though, if I help you live here temporarily?", she interviewed. "I can do the housework", Sachiel shrugged. "I do need a helping hand", the aunt thinked aloud.
Sachiel twiddled his thumbs as he awaits the answer.
"Fine, hun. You can live in the house. Ya will sleep in the couch though", the aunt said. Sachiel smiled in relief and shook her hands gleefully and hugged her, "You won't regret this mam!". "Call me Auntie Louie", she said. "Please, give this poor man some clothes, Richie", Auntie Louie told to Richard. Sachiel looked at his stained tuxedo and realized how unpresentable he is. "Uh sure, come follow me, blonde", Richard gestured to Sachiel.
As the two enters the house by the door in the garage, Auntie Louie turns to Mortimer. "That's so brave of you to help a person in need, Morty!", she uttered, "how did ya saved his life though?". "Some two teenage robbers were threatening him with a knife, had to defend him.. and things like that", Mortimer bragged but felt like not mentioning Sachiel also defended himself well. "Tough luck, I feel better for lettin' him live here now", Auntie Louie replied.
Mortimer nodded as he thinks she is done talking, when suddenly Auntie Louie said, "I thought ya started bringing some men". Mortimer frowned with the thought and remarked, "I am not like Mallory!". "Whatever you say, hun", Auntie Louie says as she returns to the house, "come now, Nora, dear".
Nora follows her then paused, "Sachiel looks so much more handsome than you". Mortimer just sighed madly as she follows it with a raspberry and resumed going into the house, "you must be blind".
Why did he told her a different story? I felt he lied in that one. But the first story seems ridiculous but my senses don't detect any lies otherwise. Is my ability defective now? Mortimer pondered. His ability to tell lies was impressive than some believe it to be something else, a pyshic ability of sorts. It was a useful one but he sometimes doubt his ability. He sighed and shrugged the thought off, finally entering the house.
