I closed the door and removed my mask sighing deeply. Then I sat down and put my face in my hands you would think that we would have been given a heads up before two were put into our custody. “Both of you sit.” They both do as they are told “Im Annabelle and this is Cyrus” she said as she pointed at her brother. Her brother looked up at me and gave me a small smile. His cheeks were red, eyes were a vibrant green which were stained with a light red from crying, and his skin a tawny white. “We have a spare room across from mine if you would follow me, it hasn't been used for a while but it will suffice. I will bring you both some tea and let you to get situated.“ I stood up and walked towards the room motioning for them to follow me.
Entry 3: Annabelle
I don’t know what to do other than stay silent. It’s so hard to keep myself from crying. My brain is being cluttered with so many thoughts, I need to focus on protecting Cyrus and figuring out what was going to happen from here. As enter the spare room the smell of stale air invaded my senses. The room had a light blue paint and dust lightly coated the few pieces of furniture we had. The woman walked over to the small bed meant to accommodate the two of us. “I'll leave you two to get situated” She said sternly. “The bathroom is on the right, take a shower I will bring you something small to eat.” She spoke quickly and made her way out of the room with haste. I pulled off the sheet covering the bed, dust flew everywhere causing me to sneeze, and sat down. I could feel every spring under me, yet it was rather comfortable. It was silent, I hated it. Conversation was the only thing that kept my grieving to a minimum. Cyrus walked over and kissed my cheek before sitting beside me.“ Annabelle, I don’t know what to do anymore.” Cyrus said quietly. I rubbed my temples and replied” Go take a shower and get the day off of you, then try to get some rest, We can figure out what we will do in the morning” Cyrus nodded and walked out of the room. I sighed and moved the sheets then slipped inside.
“I can't sleep too many thoughts” I whispered. "Close your eyes" Cyrus said a childish smile, he tended to crack jokes to lighten up the mood but I knew he was trying to distract me from the messed up stuff that's running through my head. Which he knew full well that my worrying would never end. I pushed myself off the cramped bed and made my way into the kitchen where I found both the woman sitting at the table. I brushed my hair out of my face smiled at her, hiding my fear of the stranger that I have entrusted house Cyrus and me. Marie stood up abruptly her coiled hair fell over her face in waterfalls. She walked over to counter and started to fill a cup of water from the kettle. “What type of tea do you prefer Annabelle?” I looked up at her and gave her a small smile “Surprise me Pequeña”She returned to her task grabbing a box of tea and placing one bag into the cup. “My name is Marie”. She handed me the cup and sat down then grabbed a book from off of the table and started reading but snuck looks at me seldomly. I looked at the table hating how quiet it had become.“ Hey, I never caught your name.” She looked startled, she must had been deep in thought. She rubbed her neck “ “Marie and my mother is in her room, don't expect her to speak to you." Marie said, the awkward silence resumes. I take a sip of the tea Marie so graciously made for me. The flavor was bitter but calming. I couldn't place what it was but it was the best thing I had ever tasted. I guzzled down every drop. Taking a deep breath after. “Wow” I said “What is that Marie it was the best thing I had ever tasted!” Marie gave me a confused look “Have you have never had black tea before?” Taking the cup from my hands and placing it into the sink. I yawned and stretched. “I'm gonna turn in for the night.” I got up and pushed in the chair. “ Thanks for the tea Pequeña”, I smiled to myself as I walked into the spare room. Before I snuggled into the bed I kissed my brother on the forehead, then I able to fall into a restless sleep.
