Cheryl had never seen a wolf before, and never this close.

Although paralyzed, she could still move her eyes. The wolf was huge. She could pick out each individual hair on its glossy coat.

The beast just stood there, staring at her with its unblinking yellow eyes.

It was eerie, but she felt a sense of familiarity wash over her. Cheryl’s paralysis soon broke and she involuntarily shook herself, taking her eyes off of the wolf for a few seconds.

When she returned her focus the animal was gone.

In its place there was Ralph Clark, with his impossibly pale skin and shoulder length blonde hair that she had come to love.

And he was naked.

Cheryl was so dumbfounded that she slapped herself hard in the face. Once the stinging sensation had subsided she looked at the cave entrance again.

And again, there was a naked Ralph Clark.

“Ralph, what the fuck!” The words just popped out of her mouth. She was equal parts angry and afraid. She wanted to hit this man, and she also wanted to get as far away from him as she possibly could. In fact, the hand holding the phone was ready to throw the device straight into his face, and Cheryl was a great shot.

Ralph smiled at her, looking like a dork. “Hi,” he stammered.

“RALPH, WHAT THE FUCK!” she repeated, flexing her throwing arm.

So much about this made little sense. The only logical conclusion was that Cheryl was slowly dying from hypothermia, and was now hallucinating a naked Ralph. Why he would be naked, she had no clue. They hadn’t been dating long enough for them to have sex. “This is symbolic, isn’t it,” she said to Ralph.

Ralph Clark was on his hands and knees. He looked as confused as she was. “Ugh, what… ?” Then it dawned on him what she meant. “Oh, no!” He held up his hands, balancing perfectly on his knees. “I’m actually here!” He smiled again, and raised his arms into a shrug. “Cheryl, please don’t throw your phone at my face.”

Cheryl did not relax one bit. “Are you friggin kidding me right now?” She was still having a hard time processing what had just happened. First there was a white wolf. Now there was a naked Ralph. Before that she had been hiking in the woods, and then it began to rain so she had crawled in this cave. Her grip on the phone tightened the more she thought about it.

Ralph Clark had been following her!

Cheryl Bombardier is having a miserable day. On the night before her date had bailed on her, no apologies or rain checks, nothing. To blow off some steam she goes for a hike in the woods, but is forced to take shelter in a small cave due to an unexpected storm on the night of a full moon.

When Ralph Clark, the man who blew her off, mysteriously shows up she is shaken to her core by what she discovers next.

Excerpt:

Ralph sighed. He could see where this was going. He had done Cheryl Bombardier wrong, and he knew it. He really liked her, and knew that she liked him back. Ralph felt ashamed for just leaving her, but what could he have done? There weren’t many men with his … condition, and it was just too hard to explain in simple terms. She would have thought he was insane if he tried breaking the news to her any other way.
