"Good luck with that then. Do you want one of the traps too?" He asked.
"No, I'll be alright. I'll just need a bigger jar to hold all of them." I told him as the elevator doors opened.
The elevator let us out into a large open room that was bustling with activity. It was filled with a bunch of desks covered in paper work and computers. The room's walls were covered in windows that belonged to various labs, training rooms, and offices among other things. There were a lot of non humans in there today which put me further on edge. There was even a red three tailed bird sitting on one of the hanging ceiling lights and a dragon kin was on a ladder trying to coax it down.
"You going to be alright?" My mentor asked me when he noticed my tension.
"Yeah, let's just get me to pest control so I can drop off the gremlin and, after that, the archives." I told him.
"Right, " he said, nodding to me.
He lead me down a familiar path out of the room and through a couple of hallways. Along the way, we dropped the gremlin I had caught earlier off at the pest control office, before arriving at the Archives. It was my favorite place in the department with its shelves of musty books and curious items. It was also almost devoid of supernatural beings.
Almost.
Upon entering the room, a familiar blue blur swooped out of nowhere to tackle me. I withstood the force of its 'attack' and ended up with its arms and legs wrapped around me in a hug. The blur resolved into Tina, the humanoid sylph in charge of keeping things tidy and mostly dust free in the Archives. She looked like a three and a half foot tall blue fairy with wispy clothes to match and short white hair.
"Tina.....You know how I don't like by...uh.." I reminded her while being extremely uncomfortable and stiff from her touching me.
"Yeah, I know. I just think that you'll get used to me faster if I keep doing this!" She said as she smiled up at me.
"Well it's not working or helping. Let. Go!" I scolded her.
"Okay!" she said, letting go of me and floating off.
I followed her and she lead me to my usual table. It was covered in books and was surrounded by wooden crates. I stared at the small mountain of work they had for me in disbelief before looking at my mentor.
"Are you kidding me!? Just how big was that raid?" I exclaimed.
"They decided to some other things from their own archives that they wanted you to familiarize yourself with along with the rest." Tina responded when my mentor hesitated to answer.
