Idol Love

Crabs (Part 1)

Crabs (Part 1)

Nov 22, 2019

I jerk awake, breathing heavily as the doorbell keeps ringing. Whoever it is is about to get their ass kicked. It is way too early for this. I throw the blankets off, wincing at the stiffness as my tired body tries to regain control of itself. I run a hand through my hair and storm through the house.

"What?!" I snap as I open the door. The July heat smacks me in the face almost as quickly as seeing the figures on my porch.

"Surprise!"

Blinking rapidly, I open my mouth before closing it. "What are you doing here?"

Realizing that I am only wearing boxers, I slap my hands over my junk and clear my throat. The Wish boys grin as they crowd the doorway.

"Morgan, let us in," DaeDae begs. "I need to pee."

I point behind me. "Down the hall and to the right." I barely get the words out before they push me out of the way, invading my home. Kang wraps his arms around my waist and pull me tightly against him.

"When did you get in?" I mumble into his ear as I hold him closer. It has been two months since I've last seen him. Two long months.

Kang pulls back and gives me a quick kiss. "An hour ago. We're officially on vacation."

"So you decided to invade my home?" I tease.

“It’s two in the afternoon. Why are you just waking up?” Sunshine wraps his arm around me.

“Because it’s my off day,” I comment dryly. “I’m allowed to sleep in.”

Jay appears on my right with sunglasses in his hand. "Do you have crabs?"

I try to control my laughter at the innocent question. "Is that why you're here? Because of my beach house?"

Sunshine goes exploring around the living room.

"Among other things," Hajoon replies as he joins us. "Kang gave us a rundown about you two and, young man, we need to talk."

"I thought we were going to tell them together." I turn to Kang.

Kang rubs the back of his neck while his cheeks begin to brighten. "Jun stole my phone."

"Honest mistake." Jun shrugs as he wraps an arm around DaeDae. "I swear."

"Leaning over and snatching the phone is an honest mistake? In which country?" Sunshine asks.

Jun rubs his hands together in apology. "I’m sorry."

"He's just upset that Dragon punished him." Hajoon smacks me in the arm. "It was quite interesting."

Interesting? I turn to the silent member who is sitting on the couch with his chin in the palm of his hand.

"He won't be involved in anyone's business but his own. Congrats on getting together."

Warmth spreads throughout my chest. They’re accepting me? I can feel my shoulders begin to relax. A part of me wondered if they would be able to accept me dating their brother.

"Jun had to do all the chores and cook," Jay explains as he looks around the house.

"We starved," Hajoon supplies. "Speaking of which, I'm hungry. Morgan, do you have any food in here? I can cook."

Food? I try to recall what is in my fridge. "I don't think I have enough to feed the crabs outside."

"Well it's time to go shopping then." He pulls out a stack of bills, and I turn to Kang with a confused look.

"How long are you staying? What about your managers and staff?"

He waves the question away. "We snuck away."

"Are you allowed-" I begin.

DaeDae barks out a laugh as he comes back, while Dragon shakes his head. "We don't always follow the rules."

"More importantly, Hajoon told them to back the hell off and we ran for it," Sunshine supplies.

"A win win situation." Hajoon wiggles his eyebrows. "Who are we? Wish. No one tells Geum Hajoon what to do."

That’s definitely true. "I should go put some clothes on. I'm definitely under dressed." I hightail it to my bedroom, changing as quickly as possible. I scrub my face and teeth vigorously before I snatch my wallet and keys from the dresser. Pressing a hand to my heart, I suck in a breath and try to calm myself. He’s actually here.

"My car only seats five, so three of you can stay here," I call out as I slip my wallet into my pocket.

"Good. I need a nap." Dragon groans before he lays his head back and closes his eyes.

"I'll stay with Dragon.” Sunshine jerks his thumb to the couch.

"No spooning!" DaeDae cackles as he opens the front door.

Sunshine's face grows hard and he raises his fist. "This kid. Ya! It was one time."

"Next we'll be announcing you two as the new couple in our group." Jay chuckles.

I grab Kang's hand. "I like being the only couple in this group for the moment."

He grins and I hear someone making kissing noises.

"You're a part of his family, which means you're going to be teased along with the rest of us. Be strong. I'm going to go take pictures of the beach," Jun replies huskily before he follows the youngest out the door.

Rolling my eyes, I close the door behind me when everyone who is coming is out of the house. Day one and it is already interesting.

"Dae! Are you seven?!" Hajoon snaps as DaeDae rides down the aisle on a shopping cart. He manages to hop off before it crashes into a shelf.

Kang holds up ramen and shakes it. "Which one do you like?"

"I eat any and every single type of ramen. Pick whatever you like."

"Hajoon likes these," he mumbles almost to himself before he sets them into the cart. As a group of girls walk past, he turns slightly away. When he catches me staring, he shrugs. "Hiding my face has become a habit."

I reach out and pinch his cheek. "You shouldn't have to hide."

Kang grins as he grabs my hand before pressing a kiss to my inner wrist. "I'm glad I'm here."

I nod. "It's been too long." He reaches out and rubs my head.

"What are you two talking about?" Jay asks. He has a whole armful of groceries and I help him put them into the cart.

"Talking about how great it is that you can finally relax."

He sighs. "We’ve been working hard. It's nice to take time for ourselves. Kang has been talking about coming back here to be with you, and we thought it was a good idea to join. I'm sorry if we invaded your space."

I wave my hands at him. "I enjoy your company. It’s a nice surprise."

"It'll be nice to be with each other, just living like normal people for the next few weeks." He sounds relaxed before looking into the cart. "Do you think that's everything?"

Hajoon struts down the aisle with DaeDae behind him. "I think we have everything. We can have a good home cooked meal."

I practically moan at the thought of Korean food. "It feels like forever since I've had Korean food. I'm starving."

"Let's get back to the house."

Wrapping an arm around Kang, we follow Hajoon and the others to the checkout. We manage to load the groceries back into the back of the car and make our way home. The others help us unload before we are each given a task to do, making quick work of all the food prep.

"You're going to destroy it." I chuckle as I step behind Kang and grab his hands. "How is it that you're a horrible chef?"

“Maybe I'm only acting like a horrible chef so you can help me." He leans into me as I maneuver his hands to cut the vegetables.

I grab another onion and lay it across the chopping board. "Well, you're doing a good job at acting."

Outside I can hear Jun singing as he helps Jay grill the meat. Living on the beach, I have a great view of the ocean and of an amazing sunset. The sky is bright with colors and I can feel the ocean wind rushing across my sensitive skin from the open door. Sunshine and DaeDae are making a bonfire in the sand. Dragon makes his way through the kitchen, checking on the pots that simmer with different styles of food.

"Are you almost done with the onion?" he asks without sparing us a look.

"Almost," Kang replies. He elbows me in the stomach. "You're distracting me."

I take a step back and hop onto the counter. "Me? Wow. That's mean."

Kang shoots me a look, holding up the knife. "What I mean is that my boyfriend knows how to distract me and uses it to his advantage."

Guilty. I blow him a kiss and turn to Dragon. "Do you need any help?"

"You can start putting the pots onto the table. Kang, hurry with the onions and put them in the soup. Hajoon!" He leaves the kitchen bellowing his friend's name. I shoot Kang a wink before I do what I'm asked. Outside a simple wooden table had plates and different dishes spread out. Jay rushes over with a plate full of smoking meat.

"Hot, hot, hot," he chants under his breath before nearly dropping the whole thing. He manages to get it on the table before he shakes his hand quickly to relieve the pain.

"Are you okay?" I ask while arranging the table a little better to make it easier for us to get to the food. He nods before he walks away.

In ten minutes we are all sitting around the table as Hajoon begins to fill the other members’ plates with food. Conversation begins to break out about what to do in the town and when everyone should meet up to spend time in the water. I am on a private beach giving us free reign . Everyone breaks up into their own little groups after the food is devoured and I watch as Jay begins jogging to the beach.

I grab a drink and sit near the bonfire as I listen to the crackle of the wood. Kang makes a tiny noise as he sits down, immediately laying his head in my lap. I run my fingers through his hair as he begins to sing softly. His eyes close at my touch and I feel him shift closer. He grabs my other arm and holds it tight against his chest as he continues to sing. The sun is completely gone and the only light we have left is from the fire and the full moon.

"The stars are beautiful tonight," Dragon replies as he leans back on his hands. "You don't see them very well in Seoul."

I tilt my head to look at the bright stars shining. They do look beautiful. I lay back against the sand and hum the song Kang sung in my head. It is completely stuck in there, looping over and over again.

"You two should get inside."

"We will," I reply quietly. Kang had fallen asleep.

In the distance, I hear Jay gasp loudly. "Crabs!"

I roll my eyes before closing them.
