“Now I will give you two some time to get to know one another. “I watched as the older women walked away.
“I apologies. My mother is a very pushy woman. I noticed you were leaving, so feel free to leave.”
I looked at her for a moment and shook my head, “It’s fine. I’m not really in a hurry to do anything.”
“If you want, do you want to go somewhere less crowded and less of my mother staring at us.” I turned to see the older women peering through some of the crowd. I laughed to myself and nodded. I walked past her, and she followed behind as we left, and I walked her to the library. When we got inside, she gazed around. her eyes seemed to be lite up with curiosity.
“There are so many books here.”
“My Father collects them when he travels. I have actually read an almost all of them. I have had a lot of free time.”
“Do you know if he has any spell books?”
“Spell books?” I raised one of my eye brows.
“You see, while I was overseas, I worked with a few that could perform magic. I always have an interest in learning new spells. “
“So, you are a witch?” I asked.
I noticed her tense up and looked at me, “Aren’t you one?”
“Why would you think that? Magic is looked down upon since most come from a kingdom that killed many innocent lives. My Father was one though, that killed those who attacked this kingdom.”
“They did not kill innocent lives. They were being attacked and they simply fought back.”
“Your Mother. She is the Queen of Frandra, isn’t she? I saw my Father years ago speaking with her when the treaty between the two kingdoms were happening. What is your true reason of being here tonight?” I asked as I walked over to one of the book cases and let my finger slide across some of the books.
“We were invited here tonight by your Father. He gave my mother no other choice, but to come. She dragged me though, which at least worked out. I know you have a magical energy. Don’t you want to know who your mother was? Give me the spell book of Brako and I will tell you.”
“Isn’t that book about black magic and plagues that can kill many? Why would you want that?”
“That book was my Fathers. It is all we have left, that he created.”
“The king is still alive though.” I turned and looked at her. I noticed she was leaning on a table towards me. Her eyes seemed to be starting to gloss as tears began to form.
“He is not my real Father. He is just a man who gets what he wants.” I noticed her teeth slowly begin to grind together.
I sighed and walked over to another book case and bent down to the bottom shelf, “I would love to give it to you, but all books were destroyed that my Father took from Frandra.”
“They can’t be destroyed without…”
“Without magic? A few agreed that some of the books taken, were too dangerous. They agreed to destroy the books for their freedom.”
“Traitors…” I watched as she crouched down to the floor, “That book is all that I had left to get a piece of him back.
I stood behind her and looked at her and looked down at her, “So what do you know about my Mother?”
“Why should I tell you?”
“Because you have no other choice.” Ally smiled as she appeared from behind one of the book cases.
Selena stood up and turned around. She bumped into me and looked up. Before I could react, she ripped off the eye patch on my eye.
“It is true…” She gasped as she leaned against the table.
“What is?”
“You Mother was a witch that was captured. The King fell for her and eight months later, a baby came along. The child though was cursed by the witch. She told the King, the child born, would be born with the ability to see those who died unfairly. The king told her though that he would have the child killed because of what she had done. She managed to escape though and free herself from the King. She vanished though along with some servants that assisted her, never to be seen again by him. It was discovered though, years later that king had a son who was around the age of the son he said that he killed. That eye proves that the curse affected you.” She lifted her hand up and gently touched my cheek, “So tell me, do you see the dead?”
“Prince, here you are.” I turned to see Johnathan and my sister. She had a worried face and looked at the other girl.
“Get away from her. She’s a witch and could hurt you.”
“Just because I am a witch doesn’t mean I mean harm.” Selena yelled past me. She looked at my eyes and I noticed her eyes begin to turn white. “Here we stand, and I ask the wind. Please guide us to the spot I asked. Through my voice, you hear my cry. Take us now, I ask you please.” I noticed a strong wind rush around us and I closed my eyes for a few seconds. I felt arms wrap around my body quickly and I opened my eyes again once the wind died down. I looked down at the arms to see they were Edwards. He quickly shoved Selena away from me and stood between us. I looked behind, to see that Ally, Johnathan and my sister had been taken also. I glanced around to see we were in a forest area. The trees though seemed to be lite up by small lanterns that seemed to be levitating in the air.
Selena looked nervously around Edward and noticed the others, “The spell was only supposed to take who I was touching. How did it pull the whole room?” She took a few steps back and seemed to pop something in her hand. She then tossed it down on the ground and a giant smoke filled the air. I coughed and waved my hand in the air to try and clear it. When the smoke cleared I walked over to Alexandra.
