Nanako stared at the man with wide eyes. “Hello…” She said slowly, and then realized in horror that she looked like she had just been thrown down a mountain. She stood quickly, giving him a curtsy. “I do apologize for my appearance! I’ve had a… rough time…” She said sheepishly.
Calypso waved his hand in dismissal. “Ah, it’s quite alright.” He paused, looking for something. “Your luggage?”
“Stolen and lost…” She mumbled in dismay.
Calypso shook his head. “Right, then. First things first; I guess we’ll have to get you some new clothes. Come along,” He said, beginning to walk down the scorched sidewalk.
Nanako hurried to keep up with him, staring at the back of the pumpkin. She knew that it was rude to stare, but who wouldn’t? After a short period filled with walking on the scorched sidewalk, Calypso stopped near the entrance of a small store. “This store should accommodate you,” He said, opening the door for her.

Nanako checked out (with the money that Calypso had lent her) and walked out of the store with her new wardrobe. “I’ll handle those, Miss,” Calypso said, extending his hand for the bags. Nanako handed them over to him. Calypso waved his free hand, and a small portal opened to his left. He dropped the bags in, and then waved his hand again and the rift sealed shut.
Nanako looked thoroughly confused, staring at where her bags had disappeared. “Where did they go?” She asked.
Calypso gave an explanation quickly, as though he’d been over it a million times. “I opened a small teleportation portal and dropped the bags in. The portal led to your wardrobe at the mansion.”
“The mansion? I’m sorry, but I’ve not exactly been told where I’m supposed to be staying,” She apologized.
“You haven’t?” Calypso asked skeptically. What a sheltered child, he thought. “So, your grandparents have told you nothing?”
Nanako shook her head, nervously twirling a strand of turquoise hair around her finger as she waited for him to speak again.
“You’ll be staying with your new teacher,” Calypso stated.
Nanako stared at him. “My teacher? I don’t remember who that is…”
Calypso pinched the area between his carved eyes. “Lucifer,” He deadpanned.
Nanako gasped. “No!” She blurted.
“No?”
“I-I mean, why do I have to stay with him…?” She asked in a concerned fashion.
“He may be the King the of Underworld, but he isn’t cruel,” The pumpkin-headed demon told her, flicking a scorched leaf off of his shoulder.
Nanako frowned and crossed her arms, becoming quiet.
“Let’s get on our way, shall we?” Calypso said after a bit. He snapped his fingers, and another larger portal formed in front of them. This time, Nanako could see through it. There was a massive front foyer, decorated in black and red, with the occasional gray. Nanako stepped through it without hesitation, and Calypso followed.
Nanako continued to examine the massive room, marveling at the decor. Calypso motioned for her to follow, and she obediently tore her gaze from the massive room and went with Calypso down a long hallway.
They stopped at a massive door, with a single, large knocker on it. Calypso grabbed the knocker and let it fall heavily, causing Nanako to jump. After a few moments, the door creaked open. She furrowed her eyebrows. “Um- hello, Mister Lucifer...”
