Both Sully and I were sat in the apartment that Thanksgiving since neither of us would be making the voyage home until Christmas. I didn’t especially mind, but it was strange… It was my first time since moving out that I wasn’t alone for the holiday and even stranger still Sully was intent on doing all the cooking himself.
“Can’t I at least do something?” I asked from the living room with my legs propped over the leg of the couch, “I’m not that useless, you know!”
“I never said you were!” Sully hummed as he started to baste the turkey breast, “If you want to do something, you can wash the dishes when I’m done, just relax!”
“Come one, Babe~!” I groaned grabbing the brown-haired boy from behind earning a light blush from his cheeks as he put the turkey back in the oven, “If nothing else I could entertain you~!” I placed my chin on his shoulder breathing the scent of the cooking food.”
“Hey Idiot, you’re going to burn yourself!” The boy scowled with a sigh as he gave a soft elbow to my midsection, “If you’re that set on helping out, go peel potatoes or something!” He shoved a peeler into my hands before handing me a couple of potatoes.
“Yes, sir!” I chirped sitting at the table and placing a trash can at my feet, Even I can do this much! I smiled getting to work before catching a glance at Sully. He was more beautiful than anyone I’d ever met before. I really was lucky to have such nice, wonderful guy living with me… I had never felt so strongly towards someone before and really, I didn’t know how I was supposed to respond. Was I supposed to confess to him or something…? What if he rejects me? That would awkward given that neither of us can afford to move out any time soon… As my thoughts wandered so did my eyes and I found myself staring at my roommate even more intensely.
“Are you almost done with those potatoes!” Sully inquired turning around swiftly.
“Of course!” I jolted to my feet handing over the potatoes as I tried uselessly to hide my well-reddened face, “I wasn’t fantasizing about you or anything!”
“I didn’t think you were…?” He mumbled taking the now peeled potatoes from me, “Do you need a nap or something.”
. . .
Sully had made a surprisingly large amount of food given that it was just the two of us. Not that I was complaining by any means. Both of us could certainly eat a lot of food. I gave a gracious smile as I took a share of everything on my plate. Even before everything had gone wrong with my parents, I’d never felt this pampered.
“Robin, why are you crying in your mashed potatoes…?” Sully seemed genuinely concerned as he slid over placing a hand on my shoulder, “You didn’t want to help out that much, did you?”
“No…” I muttered leaning onto his shoulder as I gave him a dewy look, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so thankful to have someone around before…!”
