Draco was pacing nervously. He heard the crashes from upstairs as the humans stormed the castle. He gulps as he looks over his shoulder to see Zion with a look of fear. The prince was shaking as he held the rabbit closer.
“This is one of those times I wish I had my own magic,” Zion says quietly barely letting the others hear him “I wouldn’t be so useless then.”
Draco shifts uncomfortably unsure how to comfort Zion or if he should even try. The prince was sensitive about his inability to use magic of any kind. Draco stays silent as he turns away from Zion.
Damian walks over to Zion before kneeling beside him. “Sometimes it takes vampires a long time to develop their powers. Maybe yours are just very powerful and need a bit longer to take their true form,” he says.
“That’s what everyone else, except for my dad, says. But… well… even the oracle can’t sense any magic in me. It’s almost like I’m not even a true vampire…” Zion sighs. “Maybe there’s something wrong with me…”
Draco turns around finally having enough. “There is nothing wrong with you! Your father just can’t accept the fact that his son’s powers will be stronger than his.” he snarls before his widen eyes as realizes what he just did wrong. He just told Zion something he wasn’t supposed to know.
“What?” Zion asks as he stands up anger creeping into his ruby eyes. “You knew…?” he asks sounding betrayed. He couldn’t believe that something like that would be kept from him.
“I-I…” Draco stutters. Zion looked absolutely livid and Draco wasn’t used to seeing him look like this. The prince was usually so kind and forgiving. “I can-!” Draco says before Zion cuts him off.
“Go…” Zion says without meeting Draco’s gaze. “Now,” he says in a firm voice.
“I… yes sir…” Draco says before he turns into a stone looking dragon with green eyes and disappears with a loud crack.
Zion’s lip quivers as he sits down. The golden animals in the garden seemed to know something was wrong since they all walked closer to the prince trying their best to cheer him up. “Leave me be…” he whispers. The animals reluctantly back away from him.
“Are you alright Zion?” Damian asks keeping his distance in case Zion wanted to be left alone.
“He lied… my father lied… they all lied…” Zion says as he hugs his chest. “How am I ever supposed to trust any of them again if they do this to me?” he asks, trying to keep the quiver out of his voice.
“All of them?” Damian asks looking confused as he walks over to Zion once more. “What do you mean?”
“The staff. I’ve asked them if they had any ideas about my powers and they never said they knew I had them.” Zion says in a hollow voice. “Can I trust anyone?”
“You can trust me,” Damian says as he sits down beside Zion “I would never lie to you.”
Zion doesn’t reply as he looks at his hands. What were his powers? How many people knew about them and the lie his father told? And was that the reason all of the servants were so afraid of him?
“Are you alright?” Damian asks worriedly as he touches Zion’s shoulder making his jump.
“I’m fine…” Zion mutters. “Draco you can come back now,” he calls.
Draco reappears looking at Zion with pure sadness in his eyes. “I’m sorry I should’ve told you sooner. I can understand if you don’t trust me,” he says.
“It’s okay,” Zion says without looking at Draco “I overreacted…”
Draco looks at Zion in concern. He sounded emotionless. It was unsettling. “You don’t sound like yourself,” he says as he takes a few nervous steps closer to Zion.
“Can we move on?” Zion asks as he stands and walks past both Damian and Draco. “I don’t want to be here anymore...” the garden made Zion feel sick because of the lie he had found out about there.
“Alright…” Draco says his eyes never leaving Zion.
“Where are we going?” Damian asks as he stands.
“First the forest, then the city, and finally out of the fucking country,” Draco snarls “and you’ll be safe.”
“What about our kin? If the humans found out where the Regiis clan lives they are more than capable of finding the other smaller clans.” Zion says. “W-we have to help them. They don’t have the protection that we do… please…” he says his lip quivering.
“I understand your concern, but your safety is my priority,” Draco says.
“Do you? I don’t believe you…” Zion says “you lied, you don't care about the others, and I can’t trust you anymore…”
