I laid beyond the river,

Life rung out like a dirty rag.

A coffin is a comfortable sleeping bag

But nothing can stop a spirit

With revenge to deliver.

I laid beyond the river,

Writhing as a headless serpent.

The dirt is but a blanket

In the blind eyes of a corpse,

Yet it eases my deathly shiver.

I laid beyond Styx,

Just another soul to collect.

And as they said it would,

The water ebbed and flowed

With the Reaper’s fix. 

A/N: I had a good time listening to these songs. They're off the album "Apocryphal Gravity" by Hubris. Good stuff. When I saw the title "Beyond Styx" I knew I had to do something with it. I'm glad I did, too. I think this is one of my favorite poems I've written.
