"So. How is boy and Wraith doing?" He said, his English a little worse than usual as he checked my temperature and pulse.
"I'm cold, I ache all over, and I feel nauseous. I don't know about the other one. I haven't sensed it since before I passed out." I told Yang before opening my mouth for him so he could take a look inside.
"Hmmm.... Not surprised. Both you and he are not well because of your rejection." he said as he finished looking and turned his attention to making the appropriate medicinal tea for me. I watched him measure different ground up powders into the cup before pouring the hot water on them.
"Rejection? Why would that cause... this?" I asked, referring to my current condition.
"I do not know and I only know what the Wraith told me. It said that when a host rejects it before it has recovered from it's death sleep, the host's rejection can severely harm it. As for what happened to you, you have to ask it yourself. It was too desperate to be fed to explain it further to me." Yang answered me. He must have seen the look of guilt on my face at his words because he reached out and patted my shoulder.
"Boy should not blame self. Boy did not know and boy's fears run deep. It will take time before boy knows how to trust Wraith." He told me.
"Right." I said, not exactly confident about his prediction.
"Hmm... Think of it this way boy. Boy trusts Bear, yes? Yang believes that Wraith is like Bear. It no wants to hurt boy. Now drink tea so boy can feel better." He told me as he handed the cup of fresh tea.
I took it from him and made the mistake of sniffing it first. It looked like frothy soy sauce but smelled fouler than a pot of dead man's soup with a side of fresh durian. I closed my eyes, held my nose, and guzzled the piping hot and horribly bitter tasting medicinal drink. My face twisted itself into a look of intense disgust out of reflex when I finished drinking the tea and handed the cup back to Yang.
"Ug! Why does this stuff always have to taste so... so.. bad!?" I asked him. Yang laughed.
"It is so people don't drink too much of it." He told me.
"Nnn... Still.. You got any thing to get the taste of that out of my mouth?"
"I will go and get a fresh cup with just water." He told me before leaving.
I started feeling better no long after that as the tea's medicines began to take affect. The aches that I been feeling up until then, went away as did most of nausea. The hot tea also warmed me up from the inside out and I stopped shivering. The churning in my gut remained though and I assumed it was from whatever Yang had fed to the Wraith to sate it.
