Thinking of it, I reached for it mentally to see if it would respond to me. It did, in a sense, by withdrawing further and focusing on consuming what it had trapped in it's stomach. I could feel its wariness of me which in turn made me feel even guiltier so I decided to turn my attention to the book instead to see if I could get any answers that way.
I was feeling much better by this time and attempted to sit up again. My vision remained steady but my head throbbed briefly from the sudden movement. I chose not to try standing in case I got dizzy and fell. I don't think my head would enjoy being battered by a hard object for the second time today. Third, if you counted inside the dream. Either way, once is more than enough for one day.
Using the table for support, I reach across it to the book and pulled it over to where I was sitting so I could get a better look at it. The description on the page opposite to the illustration was indeed written in antiquated Japanese hentaigana but not of a dialect that I was familiar with. I puzzled over the symbols and their meanings for a little bit before Yang returned with some water and a different tea. I looked up from the book to look at him and rose an eyebrow at the new tray.
"I thought you were only going to bring me water?" I asked him.
"Yes. That is what I said. But. Then I remembered your tea order came in." Yang replied. He set the tray down next to the book on the table.
"I see. So which one did you bring me?" I asked as I pushed the book aside to make room for the tray.
Suddenly, a wave of nausea washed over me and my(?) stomach rebelled against me. Something long and thick make its way up my throat and I found myself gagging. I end throwing whatever it was up onto the table and it slid out of my mouth into a pale grey and gold pile where the book had been. Once it was out of me, the nausea went away and pile resolved itself into a slightly smaller, gray and gold version of the two lesser water dragons Yang had out in front.
It was rather unperturbed by its stay in the wraith's stomach and it started to clean up the thick slime that come out with it. I said a few choice words that I shouldn't know in a handful of different languages after I have gotten over my stunned surprise at it coming out. Yang let me get it out of my system with a patient if surprised look on his face. After I had calmed down, I returned my attention to him.
"Not that's out of my system, can you tell me why you feed the Wraith your young adult dragons? Those are your most expensive ones." I told him.
"It refused to eat anything younger." Yang replied. "It told me when I brought it the dragon fry that it rather eat full adults. The only adults I have are my breeding pair. I could not give it those so we came to a compromise."
"Alright then, how many did you feed it and how much do I owe you for them?" I asked.
"One dozen, not including the special one here." He told me, pointing to the gray and yellow one I had thrown up. I winced at the number and he hurried to reassure me. "Do not worry about paying me full price for them. It was an emergency for a favored customer. You do not have pay me back. But. If you feel like you need to pay me back for them. Then you only have to pay for their feed and care. You can also have your work help you with it and you do not have to worry about paying me back all at once either."
