Jerami guided Sol to a mansion, a few blocks past the hospital where he originally intended to take Luna and Dad.
Sol felt uneasy when he parked inside a spacious garage where two more polished cars, a red hatchback and blue sports car, settled. He could not trust mansions after what happened to Luna. It was like entering another enemy lair.
“Sol, carry your brother inside,” Dad said, limping out of the car.
“Ms. Jerami…”
“I prefer Dr. Jerami,” the beautiful woman said with a kind smile. “And I’m already married. You’ll meet my husband soon, and our son.”
“Oh… you already have your own family,” his suspicion somehow lessened upon hearing those words. He moved out of the car and returned the car key to Dr. Jerami. “Thank you for helping us.”
He opened the passenger seat and carried Luna onto his back.
Dr. Jerami locked the car, walked out of the garage, and headed east of the front yard where a two-story clinic was located. There was a signboard on top of a two-door glass entrance which read Estrella Medical Clinic. It was surrounded with nicely trimmed bushes and trees. There was also an open parking lot at the side of the building and a paved road that was leading towards a locked entrance.
“We haven’t opened this clinic for days,” Dr. Jerami unlocked the glass door and entered the building. “But I kept everything in this place clean,” she opened the lights, revealing the polished white tiled floor and furniture. “You can sleep here tonight,” she turned on the air-conditioner and the building gradually became cold. “There are beds on the second floor. Wait for me up there.”
“Sol, follow me,” Dad commanded as he walked towards the staircase at the right corner of the first floor. He seemed to know that place well.
“Have you been here before? How did you know Dr. Jerami? What did she do earlier? How did she know that we needed help and where to find us? Did you tell her all those information?” Sol rained questions at his father while they were ascending the staircase.
“I’ve been in this place a couple of times,” Dad replied as they reached the second floor landing. “Your Mom, Jerami, Alfred, and I are friends,” he pressed some switches on the wall and a few light bulbs glowed, those at the left corner of the room and over the single beds near a wide window covered with a rolled down Venetian blind. “Alfred is Jerami’s husband. He is also a good and reliable man.”
Sol carefully lay down Luna on the bed nearest the window. His twin brother liked sleeping beside a window.
Dad sat on the bed beside them and gazed at Luna with an expression that Sol did not like.
“Don’t stare at Luna with those eyes,” Sol told his father in annoyance. “He didn’t do anything wrong. Lei nearly killed you. I would have reacted the same way if you didn’t tell me to stop Luna. And what will happen once Luna touched her? Will she die?” Sol curiously asked then added in frustration, “Maybe it is better for her to die than bother us for the rest of our lives.”
“She will not die,” Dad said with seriousness that silenced Sol. “Her soul will be completely devoured by sin but her body will not die. It will transform into a monster, powerful enough to corrupt other people,” Dad explained and glared at Sol with grimness that was alarming. “You want Luna to do something like that? You want him to raise an army of sins? You want those monsters to succeed in using your brother?”
