Standing there, staring at my two fully stocked bug out bags next to the random odds an ends everyone else managed to grab from their houses sitting on my couch I realize I am the only prepper out of all of my friends. “Looks like we are gonna have to take the backroads out of here in my SUV” I mutter to everyone. I look at all we have. There’s barely enough to feed us for two weeks. The only one mildly prepared is Liam. “Susan, go back to your house and fill this with as much non perishable food as you can,” I say tossing her a large duffel bag, “Grab your tent, and change into your running shoes and some jeans as well then go load them in my car.” Turning to Liam and Chad I say, “ You boys do the same we need any and all tents, food, and weapons. And for fuck sake Chad at least grab a bar of soap and some toilet paper no matter what you think hygiene is a priority.” shoving the boys out of the house.
Susan pauses, “non-perishable?”
“Boxed and canned foods. Bags of flour, rice, pasta and even sugar are also helpful now hurry.”
I turn to James, his amber eyes glowing with fear, his shoulder length strawberry waves tied back into the messiest ponytail I have ever seen, obviously worried about his wife over in Vermont, “James come help me pack up the food in the kitchen”
“Oh um, okay, do you need me to get anything from the garage while we’re at it?”
“No, the tents are already in my pack, I mainly just need help with the food, grab anything boxed or canned.”
