Jaxon watched Hadrien who sat in the sofa while staring at the sandwich in front of him. He hadn't said or eaten anything since he got them. His brother, Joshua, watched over Hadrien with pride. He had been chosen. Ironmaw was one of the oldest and most powerful Alphas among Price packs wolf spirits. Why the hell did it choose a scrawny brat like Hadrien as his host?

Hadrien wasn't as scrawny anymore. The body had changed in order to handle the wolf spirit and Hadrien was pure muscles even if he was more on the slim side than on the broad side like his brother Joshua. Hadrien's eyes met Jaxon who looked away. There was no need to challenge him tonight.

"Maybe we should let out a few humans in the woods and let our wolves hunt them. It seems to work well as a motivation for wolf spirits to jump into humans," Kai laughed as he drank coffee.

"This is no laughing matter. If the Graycrest hears of this…" Elliott groaned.

"What are they going to do. Frown at us?"

"Curse us to death. Have you forgotten what they can do? Well, either way. This was an accident and no, we are not letting a human be hunted by wolves."

"Hey, it worked."

"I'm not as sure as you are. It did not work for Mr. Oakley. Besides Mr. Oakley mentioned that he ordered the wolf to go inside Mr. Dufort."

"Ordered? The wolf chooses their host. Not some scrawny human."

"Maybe but… I still not sure why the Graycrests wanted him here. He has no magic. No connection to the natural world. If he has some power to command animal spirits."

"Stop fretting. So what if he has some strange power? What does it matter?"

"You are a fool. If he can command a wolf spirit to enter a human then maybe he also has the ability to remove a wolf spirit from a host."

That silent Kai who frowned at his brother. Jaxon did not like what this was going.

"Those Graycrests… They wouldn't… That boy is dangerous!"

"If… and only if he has that power then I agree. I might just be overthinking it. Maybe he just has the ability to see spirits."

"Better safe than sorry. Let's kill the brat. We can say that the black wolf did it."

A crash echoed in the house as Hadrien destroyed the table in front of him with one hit. His brother tried to calm him down but Hadrien just pushed him off as he rose. He stalked closer to Kai who growled at Hadrien who did not waver.

"If you even look at Blake funny. I will rip off your skin and wear it as a shirt."

"Hadrien…" Elliott started but Hadrien silenced him with one look.

"I will never let him get hurt. Neither by you or the Graycrests."

Hadrien took an apple from the desk and exited the room with a challenging stare at Jaxon who growled at him.

"What the hell was that? Does every hormonal brat want the shag that lad?" Kai exclaimed while Elliott watches after Hadrien with a curious look.

"Pack mentality? But Ironmaw is of the Price pack why would he show pack mentality towards a human child not of the Price pack?"

Jaxon cleared his throat. "Is Blake perhaps related to Ironmaw. Like his son or something. That may explain why Ironmaw listens to Blake and why he is so protective of him."

"I would normally be open to that idea. But I did a background check on Mr. Oakley before he came here. There was no relationship to the natural world."

"No shifter blood at all."

"Stop using that term, Jaxon. We are the natural world. Not shapeshifter or shifters".

Jaxon rolled his eyes at Elliott's outburst. All young people call themselves shifter by now. Only older or conservatives fancy calling themselves wolves or naturals.

"But no. We looked rather far into his family tree and we couldn't find any signs of anything of the natural world."

"He might be a bastard. The old host of Ironmaw was quite the player. Heard he had several bitches on the side," Kai said while shrugging.

"Language. But yes. There is a small possibility that Mr. Oakley is the bastard child of the previous host of Ironmaw and as such he is also the child of Ironmaw. It would be for the better as it would explain why Ironmaw would listen to his son. Though I would not understand why Ironmaw would choose Hadrien instead of Blake if this was the case."

"Does it matter? We have a new wolf to take care of. A renegade wolf we need to catch. We better focus on that before anything else," Jaxon said in hope of removing Blake from the conversation.

"Agreed. I will make a closer study on Mr. Oakley's background. Jaxon and Joshua, focus on Hadrien. He will be a tad unstable for a while so help him through it. Kai, find that wolf. I want to know if he is a foreign element or if he is a traitor. Everyone, focus on your task and let's hope that this is the worst of it.
