As I flew right now, I felt wobbly and was surprised that I hadn't fallen out of the sky yet.
Luisa lived in an apartment with her older sister during the summers. The older sister moved out of their mother's house when she graduated from college and Luisa moved in with her sister the moment she turned eighteen.
They lived downtown and I must have been just a few minutes away. So far, the dragon was not directly near this area. I could see the dragon in the distance, burning down buildings. The dragon had dark green scales and was a pretty large size.
But then again, it was not like I knew the difference in size. What was considered large or small for a dragon? I had never fully transformed like that. I was too scared of being caught.
The dragon must not have sensed me yet since it did not change it's path.
I landed on top of her balcony. I transformed back into my human form before I entered the apartment.
"Sa? Sa are you here?" I looked around. Things had fallen off the walls and scattered across the wooden floors.
"Eli?" a small voice came from the other side of the apartment. Normal human ears would not be able to hear it, but I could.
"Your friend?" another voice said.
"Luisa? Lupita? Are you guys here?" I knew they were there. The two of them were in the bathroom. Probably in the bathtub.
"Over here!" Luisa yelled, "the bathroom!"
I ran to the room and threw the door open, "we have to go. Now."
The sisters were in the bathtub, they had a mattress near them. They must have been using it to cover themselves.
They looked confused.
"You want us to go out there?" Luisa asked, "With a literal dragon."
I walked closer to her and bent down so I could be eye to eye with her, "do you trust me?"
I offered her my hand.
She hesitantly looked at her sister who looked concerned.
"What do you say, LuLu?" Luisa asked.
Her sister slowly nodded her head.
Luisa grabbed my hand hard and I pulled her up. I then helped her sister.
"Follow me," I said. I started walking to their balcony.
"Wait, how are we getting down?" Luisa asked.
"Luisa, you trust me, yeah?" I turned around and looked at her.
"I mean...yes?"
"Then don't worry about that," I smiled. Hopefully the smile would ease her.
"Now close your eyes," I said.
"What?"
"Close your eyes!"
"Why!"
"Luisa, I swear I will leave you here!"
"Ugh, fine!"
She reluctantly closed her eyes.
"You too, Lupita," I smiled softly at her.
She nodded her head an closed her eyes.
"I'm going to pick you up now, Luisa. Don't throw up on me," I picked her up bridal style.
"We're going to drop elevation really fast so be prepared," I said, "when we land, don't move."
I looked over the balcony. They were located on the fourth floor. The distance from here to the ground was not that big for me. I should be fine jumping.
"Wait, what do you me-" I did not let Luisa finish her sentence as I climbed up the balcony wall and jumped down.
Luisa screamed but the jump down was quick and before I knew it, my feet landed hard on the pavement. I made a small size crater in the cement sidewalk.
"WHAT THE F*CK JUST HAPPENED!" Luisa screamed into my ear.
"Shut it, I need to get your sister. Keep your eyes closed," I said.
She opened her eyes, "how do you expect me to keep my eyes closed!"
"Ugh, fine. Just don't freak out," I said.
"What do you me-" I cut her off again. I dropped her and she landed on her butt.
"Hey!"
"I need to get your sister," I said.
I grew out my nails and black scales appeared on my hands.
I started scaling the building. Before I landed on the balcony, I retracted my scales and nails so my hands could look normal again and not scare Lupita, just in case she was like her sister and did not follow instructions.
"Your turn, Lupita," I said.
Her eyes were still closed, thankfully.
I picked her up and jumped off the side of the building.
"ELISE, WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON!" Luisa was frantic.
I let down her sister gently and she opened her eyes. She quickly ran to her sister, away from me. The look in their eyes screamed fear.
They were afraid of me.
"We don't have time for this. The dragon will be on this side of town any moment. We have to hurry to the museum. Remember how they have a bunker from the Cold War? We'll be able to survive in there," I said, "that bathtub and mattress isn't going to do anything against a dragon."
"I'm not going anywhere with you until you tell me what the f*ck you are," Luisa said, rather harshly.
"Can we do this later? Please!"
"No!"
"Fine! I'm a f*cking dragon! Now let's go!" I wanted to cry, but I couldn't.
Luisa's eyes went wide and her mouth was slightly open. She looked taken back.
"Can we please go now," I pleaded.
She slowly nodded and reached for my hand.
"Let's go."
The plan I had to get the two girls from their apartment to the museum was a bad one.
It was not like I could carry them as I flew. I was hardly able to fly myself there with out falling. There was no way I could fly with the body weight of two grown women. It was not like Luisa and her sister were big or anything. They were around 5'4" and had fit frames. And with my strength, they felt light to me. I was just unstable right now with flying.
The three of us just decided to run there with me in the lead to make a path. There were not as many people as there was in the beginning and the shaking of the earth had stopped.
This was concerning.
What was that dragon doing now? Why did it stop moving?
Luisa was breathing heavily and I was a little surprised that she was able to run this much, her being hungover and all.
I guess this situation sobered her up.
"Almost there!" I screamed.
Suddenly, the earth started shaking again.
The dragon must be on the move once more.
"Run faster!" I screamed.
"I can't!" Luisa yelled.
"Okay! I'm going to carry you guys!" I reached for Luisa and threw her over one shoulder, and then did the same with Lupita with my other arm.
Luisa squealed and her sister was surprisingly quiet.
I sprinted as fast as I could the remainder half mile. I could see our destination right in front of me.
The dragon let out a roar. It was getting closer. I could feel the hairs stand up on my body and my head was screaming at me to hide.
I kicked down the museum doors and ran towards the basement.
The shaking was getting more aggressive as the dragon was now closer to the museum.
My heartbeat was racing and I felt a throbbing sensation through out my body.
The door was already exposed to the bunker. I let down Luisa and Lupita and twisted the door open. The door was on the ceiling of the bunker and there would be a ladder to get down.
"Get in!" I screamed. The dragon was almost here.
I could feel his presence.
I jumped in after them and grabbed onto the ladder. I pulled the door shut after me and quickly twisted the handle shut.
The temperature in the bunker raised significantly as the dragon above burned down the museum. The temperature from the door was hot but luckily hot temperature never caused me pain. A human hand would have blistered and potentially gotten third degree burns.
I sighed in relief and climbed down the ladder.
We barely made it.
