It's been six days since the whole ordeal, I could still hear the gunshot, resonating in my head. I felt really guilty, why? Because after the whole incident I was reminded that I was the one who made that stupid phone call, causing those freaks to surround Jackson's house, and the most painful thing about that is that Jackson didn't even blamed me for it. He was the only one.. The only one who I can truly call a friend, he was always there to support me in times of trouble. That's why I felt the same way as before, when I lost both of my parents, he was like family, a brother.
To be honest, I don't really have friends who I can openly interact with like Jackson, most of them are likely just acquaintances from a college project, additionally I was an irregular student, meaning I jump from one section to another, so I really didn't get the chance to form some kind of bond or I didn't just try though, simply because I'm not exactly the social type of person. Even after graduation I simply went home with my parents, instead of participating to some after party that the school extravagantly planned out.
Anyway I didn't really do much these past few days, I simply ate away all of my food supplies like it was not the end of the world and played video games, I guess I wasn't really that motivated to do something productive after the whole incident with Jackson. There were also few events from time to time when there were people outside, calling for help, knocking at each door of every house in the subdivision, mine was no exception though, and I didn't really feel the need to add more troubles, since my hands are already full because of my dwindling supplies.
"Funny that I have my hands full because of something going empty.."
As I grumbled that under my breath while eating the last piece of my fried chicken, I went to the third floor while carrying my binoculars, checking the currents situation of the streets..
"There seems to be a lot of them today.."
Even though I was not that motivated these past few days, I still convinced myself to do some scouting from time to time, even if I have to dragged my feet going up the third floor. Because in all seriousness I was sad, but not sad enough to die from starvation or becoming one of those freaks. Actually, my will to live was lightened up after the whole incident with Jackson, but I need some time to pull myself up since I'm an overly emotional potato.
Anyway, I understood that at some point I need to go outside to look for food supplies, since today is the last day, after that I won't have anything to eat. I still have a few gallons of purified water and some noodles but that won't give me the energy to run, so while I still have the energy to move I need to do something fast.
After a few minutes of scouting and planning, I suddenly heard something ringing, something like a police siren or an ambulance, I'm not too sure but it's getting closer, coming from the east side of the main road, outside my subdivision, I can also here a faint voice, guessing it's from a megaphone. I waited for a few seconds while maintaining my focus and my ears perk up towards the east side of the road, after that I could finally see that it was white van with megaphone on top of it, the ones that politicians use to announce their candidacy, as it was getting closer and closer I could finally hear the repeated announcement that it was calling out..

"Looks like the government has started to make its move.."
I wasn't really that enthusiastic when I heard the announcement, since Emergency Shelters always spell trouble in every light novel or manga I read, I mean.. You could say that those books I are purely non-fiction, but I can argue that there is some logical aspects those books have put for me to consider..
1. Supplies are limited in a shelter and food gets consume really fast because of the high volume of people.
2. Panic and tension can easily rise in a group of people.
3. There is a high chance of someone infected joining the group since you can't monitor each individual.
4. I might be force to surrender my gun if the army finds out since having one inside might cause panic
5. I don't really trust the army to maintain order since this is outside their protocol.
In short I need to get some supplies before the army comes, since the convenience store in my area will be emptied out the moment the they arrive. Also this is a good opportunity to move as soon as possible, because the announcement earlier had pulled a lot of those monsters at the opposite side of the store. I'm Also not sure if there is still something left in the store, I might not be the only one who has this kind of idea, so if I failed to find anything to eat for the next 3 days, I might consider going to the shelter and I hope that it doesn't come to that point.
