Oh, fairies. Everything, all this, is just too much for Dewi. First he gets cursed by a fairy, followed by his crush and best friend saying he was okay with Dewi flirting with him… Then some ancestor from the ancient past somehow time-travels to visit him. And then, it turns out his feelings for his best friend are actually mutual. Oh, and can’t forget that Blake made a deal with the fairy that cursed Dewi, trying to take the curse away from him…
As much as Dewi doesn’t want to be parted from Blake, he… he needs a few minutes to himself. As he enters his room after excusing himself, Dewi takes out his phone and dials a number.
“Hi, Mom… Do… do you have some time to talk?”
“Of course. You know I’ve always got time for you, Lil’ Bloom. What’s up? Are you okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s alri- actually, everything’s a mess right now. I don’t know anymore…. I just… So much is happening and I don’t even know where to start… I mean, most of it is actually good things, but I’m just feeling really overwhelmed and… and…“ Dewi’s voice keeps fluctuating and his mom can tell.
“Dewi? Focus on my voice. Can you do that for me, Lil’ Bloom? Now, concentrate on a single form to be, just like you used to practice when you were younger.” Dewi takes a deep breath and does as his mother directs. Remembering an actor from one of the recorded plays he loves to rewatch, Dewi focuses on changing his features to become the same. After a moment, his mom speaks from the other side of the phone again. “Are you doing better now, Dew?”
“Yes, thank you, Mama. I hadn’t even realized how frazzled I had become. Some pretty crazy things have been happening lately and… I think it kind of just all hit me at once. I… um… How long do you think you and Papa are going to be out of country this time?”
“Our plans were for another week or two, but we can be there by tomorrow morning if you need us.”
“It’s okay, no need to change your plans. I just… want to introduce you to my roommates and my boyfriend.”
“Dewi…” She sounds worried.
“This time is different, I promise. Blake actually cares about me. He…” Dewi smiles to himself, thinking about his dark prince. “He likes the real me, not one of my fake personas I always seem to build for new relationships. I… didn’t make one. I just felt so comfortable being myself around him and by the time I realized my crush on him, it was already too late. And he… I don’t know how to explain it. I know his feelings are true, he would never abandon me or hurt me on purpose. I… he’s my prince and he wants the title… well, I mean, he hasn’t said he wants to be my Prince Charming, but he’s definitely interested in staying by my side, and not just because of my appearance. He makes me feel safe and loved just being around him… He even said he doesn’t mind me being clingy sometimes. I love him so much and I’m sure you and Papa will approve of him.”
“We’ll see… You know your dad and I just worry. You’ve constantly had your heart broken by people who didn’t deserve your affections. How about we plan to visit for the weekend on our way through in a few weeks?”
“That would be great. There’s a bunch of stuff I would like to talk with you about, but I’d rather do it in person and… maybe by then I’ll have sorted out my thoughts enough to tell you all about the craziness going on right now…” Dewi stays on the phone with his mom for a few more minutes. When he leaves his room to return to his love’s side, he finds Blake has been waiting patiently for him on the couch, watching his bedroom door as it opens. “You…”
“Of course, Dewdrop. I love you.” As if that’s all the explanation needed, he gestures for Dewi to join him on the couch. Cuddling up with him, Dew relaxes in Blake’s arms knowing that no other words are required. Having this dream of a boy at his side is enough.
Everything else isn’t important at the moment.
