The bright yellow sun shines through my window and into my eyes. I squint. I stand up and walk to my door. It doesn’t open and I remember I’m locked in. I go lay back down on my bed. I reach under my mattress and go to grab my book. I remember also that I left my book at Harpers house. I sigh and just close my eyes again. I spend all day in my room doing nothing but thinking about Harper and what I’m going to say to her when I see her tonight, if I do. When night comes I just lay in bed till Mistress Madern checks on me. I wait a couple minutes, till I hear her door close. I wait a couple minutes just in case. I climb out my window and run to Harper's house. I pant and lean against the door frame before knocking. I knock and immediately the door swings open. Harper grabs me by the shirt and pulls me in. She closes the door quickly. I notice that there is not a single light on.
