The Visitor looked at the last page. This story certainly seemed shorter than the page number made it out to be, and the ending was rather unsatisfactory for their taste.
"Is something wrong?" The Librarian asked with almost an amused tone, and their earlier irritation came back.
"What's with the ending? Was he killed? Where's his dad? Does he have to live there now?" They swamped him with questions in a dull tone, "This isn't really helping my case. I want to get away from tragedies if I can. Or at least i want to read something with a fulfilling ending."
The Librarian chuckled and looked over a few more shelves, "Something with a happy ending? Where everything works out yes? I think you'll find yourself bored of these after a while should you read nothing but the same story over and over again. I'll grant your request this time, but really I would prefer you branch out and extend your imagination during your stay here."
"Whatever. I wont be here that long anyways," they hadn't quite caught the note of certainty in his voice when he has suggested that they were staying. If they had then maybe this trip would've been quite a bit shorter indeed.
Instead he handed them the next book; this one with a shimmering, beveled, title that said "Tainted if Only by Name".
The Visitor cast a curious and skeptical glance to the Librarian with the unwavering grin, then they turned the first page.
