Plot inspired by Tumblr and dedicated to one of my friends :^)
I'm internally screaming right now. Why? Well, I think it would only be natural when your crush falls asleep on your shoulder. Oh, I also have to mention that we're in a movie theatre right now.
I glance at the boy who I can't stop thinking about. His name is Eric, while my name is Tamura. We're both freshmen in high school. Despite this, he is actually shorter than me, and I am quite short.
Two days ago, I managed to gather up enough courage to ask him out to the new movie that just came out. Of course, I didn't mention it as a date or anything, but he accepted!
Eric has his head laid on my right shoulder at the moment, and I don't want to wake him up. I'm just worried that I might faint since my cheeks are probably bright red at the moment.
The movie is anything but what I'm focusing on. It has the comedy genre, but I didn't think Eric would fall asleep in the middle of it. Come to think of it, he wasn't laughing that much.
Oh gosh, did I make the wrong choice? I take another peek at his face.
Nope, this is heaven at the moment. I carefully lean back in my seat and take a deep breath.
What happens if he wakes up, and thinks I placed his head on my shoulder? My red face would also give him that impression, and I don't want to ruin my chances with him.
This is also the most physical contact I've had with him. We've brushed hands before and all that other accidental stuff, but not this.
Does he not mind sleeping on my shoulder?
I feel even more heat go to my cheeks, I put my hands over my eyes since I'm so embarrassed that I thought of that.
"....Ugh..." A voice mutters and I look to the side. Eric is frowning and positioning his head. Am I not comfortable?
I take another deep breath in and decide that I should move his head to the left. My fingers slowly and carefully move towards him, and I make him face his left.
Satisfied with my work, I focus on the movie again. Until I feel a familiar pressure on my shoulder. H-He's leaning...on me again?!
"Ahh..." I whisper, frowning while flustered. Yikes, well I think I'll have to move him once again.
Leaning close to him, my hands reach for his head once again and I'm about to move him until - he opened his eyes.
"Oop!" I look at him, and he looks at me. Eric blinks before he notices how close we are.
"T-Tamura...?" He says, and I freeze.
What the- what crappy timing!
I immediately let go of his head and go the furthest I can from him in my seat.
"That - um, I was-" As I try to come up with an excuse, a loud chatter fills the air. We look around, and the movie has ended. Yes!
I quickly stand up and walk to the exit door, not checking if Eric is following me because I'm so embarrassed.
People file out and I wait for him while playing with my fingers. Great, now he'll think I'm a weirdo.
"Let's go, Tamura." Eric arrives and we make our way out of the movie theatre and to the front.
"S-So, um, what were you doing?" He asks me, and I tense up. Oh god, here's the question.
"Oh, um...you fell asleep and somehow l-leaned on my shoulder... I tried to move you away, but then you, er, woke up." I say. We stand there for what feels like minutes but is actually seconds.
I hear a soft, "Oh."
Ugh, I really messed up this time. It would have been better if I just let him lay on me the whole time.
Turning to face him, I'm ready to apologize until I see his face.
"???"
It's...red. His cheeks are an adorable shade of red. How cute.
Seeing that, my own face starts to feel hot, and I stammer to get back to my house.
"U-Um, I had fun today! I'll text you when I get home. Bye, Eric!" I quickly turn around and walk away, not hearing his reply.
When I'm far enough, I sit down on a bench and rest my face into my hands. Gah, that was really embarrassing. I almost feel like crying. I stay on the bench for a few more minutes until I decide to walk back to the movie theatre to call my parents.
However, a ding comes from my phone, and I quickly pull it out and check it.
It was a text message, from Eric.
I quickly open it.
"Thanks for today, Tamura! I hope we can hang out again soon."
I stare at it before blinking. The blush has returned to my face, and so has a smile. I'm so happy he's not mad at me or anything. I don't know what I would have done if he was.
Quickly replying, I message back.
"Of course!"
Standing up, I make my way back to the theatre while practically bouncing.
I think I've fallen for him even more.
