It was Cindy.

Damn it, what is she doing here?

She knocks on the door. "Don't make me huff and puff and blow your door down little pig"

I unlock the door.

"What are you doing here Cindy?"

"Me? Michael what are you doing here?!"

" I was worried about Felix. I wanted to see him and know he's safe."

" Oh my brother is fine. It's you who's in danger Michael. "

" Cindy is that a threat? "

"No! It's a warning. Look Michael the reason I dragged Felix here is for his own good and yours. The family secret needs to be handled."

" what's this family secret? Maybe I can help? "

"No! I am doing this for the both of you. Look you need to leave and go back to your quiet life in your library."

" Why? Why can't I help? "

Cindy began to growl. "He's coming."

There was quick knocking at the door.

"Michael, Michael are you okay? Cindy let me in!" It was Felix.

I moved towards the door but Cindy blocks my way and barks.

Her hair seems to be standing on edge. I don't know what to do.

"Michael are you okay?"

" I'm okay, but Cindy won't let me open the door. "

Cindy calls out while keeping a dead lock on me. "Felix, you shouldn't have come here. I'm doing this for you Felix. Do you want Michael to be your prey? Have you chosen him as your sacrifice?"

The words Cindy said shocked me.

"What do you mean Cindy? What sacrifice?"

Cindy took a step closer to me and looked me intensely like I've never been looked at before. "Michael, my family is double cursed. We're werewolves, but some of my male relatives are cursed to transform into a werewolf on a full moon permanently unless... They lay hold of and consume the heart and soul of a treasured prey. He must capture and devour his quarry to live off of."

My heart sank. I felt like an animal led to slaughter. Was this a trap? Was I lead here to be a sacrifice? I began to panic. I am trapped. There isn't a way out of here. I take a step back. Felix begins scratching at the door and whimpering.

Cindy smiles. "Good. Now you see. You need to leave and go home Michael. I'm trying to save you."

" why save me Cindy? "

Cindy steps back towards the door. "For my brother. He loves you. If your his sacrifice, I'm sure he wouldn't be able to live with himself."

Cindy reaches for the door. "When I let him in, break up with him. Tell him you made a mistake and want to go home. Escape while you can Michael. I'll help you break up with him, okay? You understand?"

I nod my head.

Cindy opens the door.
