Harry’s heart was racing. No one could hold him back. No one could stop him. It was one thing to take his love away from him but transforming him into his former self was one thing that this Gryffindor could not let slip. He found himself running down the stairs from their flat on the 6th floor to the front door 7 floors below. After receiving his boyfriend’s message from his mother and father, he had made the quick decision between saving Draco and leaving everything thing that he knew and loved behind. It was an easy choice to be made. The pavement of the high street was sturdy underfoot as Harry sprinted towards the Black house. Thoughts wouldn’t come in logical strips; they came in waves of irrational nonsense. All he had learnt from hunting down the Dark Lord came into play in his mind. Houses blurred past him as he bolted along Grimmauld Place. It wasn’t until he reached the front door that he realised just how much he was jeopardising not only his life but also the life of his former boyfriend. However, due to the current rush of adrenaline, Harry couldn’t have cared less about his life as long as Draco survived.
Harry’s hand rose from his side and gripped the door handle before him. Without a moment’s hesitation, Harry flung the door open so hard that he was given only a 2 second chance to slip through the door before it slammed shut behind him. A commotion sounded from both the kitchen and the second floor. Before he could think, Harry’s wand was drown and pointed straight at the kitchen door waiting for his opponent to emerge. Right on time. Crabbe flew into the corridor with a wand drawn and a face red with envy. There was no stopping the fight that was about to commence. Harry shot the Cruciatus cure at Crabbe’s face in the attempts that he would be thrown backwards in a coma of agony. However, Crabbe had other ideas. “Expelliarmous!” He exclaimed, causing Harry to drop to the floor, narrowly avoiding being disarmed. “Stupefy!” Harry shot back in a second attempt to render his opponent useless. Crabbe was hit in his wand arm causing his weapon to fly behind him and into the waiting hand of Pansy Parkinson. Shit, Harry mentally cursed his lack of knowledge when it came to the consequences of his actions. Instead of thinking logically and tactically, Harry shot every attack spell and forgivable curse he could think of at the shrew before him. He could not afford to be calm or careful when it came to saving his one true love.
Pansy was about to send Avada Kedavra surging towards Potter when Draco Malfoy jumped from the winding staircase causing a seize fire. “Enough!” The blonde bellowed, glancing between the two of them before he directed his attention towards Harry, “Why are you doing this? I thought you had to leave or we’d both die? Do you want to kill us both now! Is this how I am repaid for everything that I put into this?!” Draco waved a hand between the two of them motioning towards their relationship. Harry’s face sank from a fierce mask into one of a love sick, apologetic puppy. “I never wanted to leave you and #I never will! Draco, I love you and I always have… no matter how horrible we have been towards each other! You mean the world to me… you’re the only one I haven’t lost in the mess of my life! You’re the one who I’ve always counted on to remind me of whom I am and who I can be…” Draco felt a knot forming in his throat which refused to move, no matter how hard he tried to get rid of it. He had always hated being emotional… even when people cut their heart out and paced it in his hands. All of this was too much responsibility for a crude Slytherin boy with nothing but a mother’s love to cradle him to sleep at night.
Pansy’s senses were on edge; every slight shift in the atmosphere of the narrow entrance hall she felt like a tap on the arm. When she picked up on the change in Draco mood and stance – how it softened and became more relaxed – she took advantage of this. Parkinson snuck up behind Draco and wrapped her left arm firmly around the blonde’s neck, bringing him closer. Placing the tip of her wand into her fellow Slytherin’s pale neck, she sneered at Harry almost tempting him into a fit of rage, “What’s wrong Potter? Too scared to come at me while your bad boy is in serious danger? Don’t worry, I have great self-control so there will be no ‘slip of the hand’ while I’m in charge!” Harry took a cautious step forward, tempted to barrel into Pansy and save Draco before she even knew what was happening. As if reading his mind Pansy began to patronise Harry further, “Don’t even try that hun,” Her voice became suddenly higher, as if she was addressing a small child, “We wouldn’t want our darling Draco getting hurt because of your petty ideas – do we? HA!” Her voice shifted yet again, deepening this time, “See that Draco? He’s not going to save you now, is he? Just as scared as your Godfather Remus was… go on! Go cower in a corner like all animals do!” Pansy knew what she was doing, fuelling a fire of guilt that burned deep within the scared teenager. No longer could the boy be seen as a man. No longer could the Gryffindor be brave. No longer could the Golden Boy be worth anything to anyone. Harry fell to his knees at the thought of the great Remus Lupin cowering away from a hex instead of taking it with his head held high. The fear of his family dying because of him made his heart a stone. “No one else will die for me or my mistakes… Except you!” Harry screamed as he sent an Expelliarmous coursing towards the Slytherin shrew causing her to drop both her wand and Draco. The now free blonde scooped down and grabbed the wand before Pansy could even think about standing up. As she opened her eyes she saw the faces of two very determined boys staring at her with a pure desire to kill. “Goodbye” they said in unison before rendering Pansy Parkinson silent and unconscious. Crabbe was still reeling in the agony of the Cruciatus. Draco stood above him and made sure that he too was unconscious.
Harry sent out a magical distress flair and they were soon in the presence of 6 owe stricken aurors. After quickly explaining what had happened, the two crooks where taken away by the Ministry members allowing Harry and Draco to lock up number 12 Grimmauld Place.
"I'm glad thats over, I don't know if I could have lasted any longer without you." Draco mumbled as they walked the pavement back towards their flat.
"I wouldn't have been able to spend very long away from you, when you love someone as much as I love you it's... hard to resist the natural urge to be with them. I just didn't want to ignore that urge and I never will." Harry nuzzled his head into the Blonde's hair, allowing Draco to cuddle into his side.
"I love you Harry."
"I love you too Draco."
"Always?"
"Always."
'And all was well...'
