I stood up, thinking if I should just walk away and forget this whole conversation ever even happened. But I couldn't do that, I can't be rude and just leave her. I had already stood up though, so I might as well do something. I picked up my plate, still with a bunch of food on it, and dumped it in the trash. I felt so bad at that moment, I was too caught up on trying to look like I wasn't thinking anything insolent. I regret wasting my food but again, I was in the moment, what was I supposed to do? I walked over, without looking at pink-haired girl and sat down once again. "Could you please explain?" I asked her, still pretty confused. I don't know what I was thinking, continuing the conversation I wished ended. Just like in this show I watched where a couple both wanted to break up but didn't know the other person also wanted to, trying so hard to break them off easy without hurting their feelings but still showing affection that was obviously fake. It was messed up, but I loved the drama.
Pinky here explained this weird "fact" about how her whole family has naturally bright-colored hair like her sister, Lexie, who had purple hair and her other sister, Lori, who has turquoise hair. "Had?" I asked once more. She looked at me with sad eyes. I could tell she was trying to not look upset, I understood how that felt.. but I wasn't sure why she was upset. "She disappeared a few years back after the incident in our pla- uh, hometown. We left afterwards to seek safety and a better chance at not being miserable, or in short, a better way of living." Alright, now I was extra confused. What safety? What incident? Why is she telling me something that seems so personal? I mean I know I asked her, but she didn't ACTUALLY have to answer me! -And why does she trust me with all this? "Sorry to dump this on you, I just hope you understand." She said, glumly. "I do understand, and I'm sorry about your sister." I said, "Both your sisters have lovely names. That reminds me, I haven't told you mine." I looked at her, smiled, then prepared for the laughs I was about to receive once I told her my name. "I'm Keraline, spelled with K-E-R-A and sounding like C-A-R-O, but my friends call me Kera for short." Funny how I said that though, considering I don't have any friends at this school. She didn't laugh, thank goodness, but before I could ask her her name, the bell rang reminding me that lunch was now over and I had to get to class in the next four minutes. I wanted to ask her as quick as I could, but I certainly don't like being late. At least this conversation was over now. I felt bad just leaving her, she looked as if she didn't know what the bell meant. "Hey," I pointed at the clock, insisting she should get to class now too. "Don't wanna be late, do ya?" I sounded so much like a nerd at that moment. But of course, what's wrong with being nerdy? I didn't want to get a detention either, you know?
*Sorry this episode is short, I kept writing and it became too long! So I decided to write the second part for the next episode. I hope you're enjoying this novel so far, the fantasy parts aren't coming until the next episode(s)!
