“Huh, what?” Kevin snapped. “No way! This is like the best spot.” All the while Kevin had been speaking, he was not looking at the person he was conversing with. Lifting up his eyes, he saw the attractive teen. Without too much of a thought, he reconsidered his decision. “Whoa. I mean, sure you can sit here.”
Kevin then got up for Morven to switch seating.
“Thank you,” said Morven, trying to move her small luggage bag with her.
“I apologize for how I sounded earlier. Let me help you with your bag,” Kevin suggested.
Morven accepted the offer. Kevin helped her carry her luggage and tucked it in the compartment just above where they sat.
“Oops. I need my tablet and my book,” said Morven.
“No problem. I got it.” Kevin reached for the bag and put his hand in the front compartment of it as she directed him. He handed her the device and the novel.
“Thank you very much,” Morven smiled. She settled in the seat beside the window.
Kevin, however, occupied the seat that was beside Matthew, right by the aisle.
Some few seconds later, the voice of one of the air hostesses could be heard throughout the plane making an announcement. “Please be seated. Our last passenger has arrived, and we are about to take off.”
Morven who was getting adjusted to her new seat expressed gratitude toward the bigger built male in the row. “Wow, thanks for the switch. I just prefer it by the window, you know…”
“Hey, don’t mention it. Anything for a pretty face,” Kevin replied.
Matthew sighed. He was shocked that his brother could become this much of a gentleman. All because she is attractive and of the opposite sex. You amaze me, Kevin.
Meanwhile, the last passenger had just walked through the gateway. It was Segas, he entered the plane finding his way down the aisle. Where did I keep that seating receipt? He asked himself.
“Sir, we are just about to take off. Please, can you sit down immediately with your seatbelt fastened,” the red-haired hostess right behind him said. Her fairly long hair was dark-red; a feat noticed instantly by the care free late passenger entrant. He was amazed at the glistening way it was tied in a bun behind her head. It revealed an enchantress, and its combination with her hair was truly groomed effeminately.
“Right away beautiful,” Segas replied, winking at the ravishing woman. As Segas walked through the aisle to find his seat, his eyes collided with a number of people staring at him. Proceeding through, a woman looked at him with disdain. The hate was so palpable that Segas was convinced that if he was left behind closed doors, alone with her, she could kill him. However, as he walked, he saw a man, who gave him a slight nod as a sign of approval. Segas smiled back at the man and continued moving towards his seat.
What occurred reflected on Segas’s achievements in life. Moments now so distant, it so happens that in 2017, Segas exposed a bank scandal that took down a lot of wealthy businessmen, revealing the dirty underground transactions that were going on in 2012. The affair went to the top, and Wall Street, a center business hub in the American nation lost a lot of credibility. As a result of this, he had fallen in the good books of some and in the bad books of others. It was an outcome expected from the actions dealt, and he wasn’t bothered about the glory. The achievement that the discovery had opened up to him was enough reward.
Another air hostess who had short brown hair approached the red-haired hostess. The red-haired hostess was stupefied, in awe of Segas, gazing at him without planning to stop. She cared little that she could have been blocking the aisle.
“Hey, you’re staring. It’s written all over your face that you want that dude,” the brown-haired hostess exclaimed.
The red-haired hostess jerked to liveliness. “He’s so lush. I swear I recognize him from somewhere.”
“Isn’t he that journalist? You know, the one that exposed the global bank scandal, Segas Brewry,” the brown-haired hostess claimed.
“I don’t care who he is, he is perfect,” said the red-haired hostess, ignoring her colleague, all in order to enjoy staring at her subject of fascination.
Meanwhile, Kevin was developing an interest in Morven.
“What is your name?” Kevin asked.
“It’s Morven,” she responded cheerfully.
“It’s really nice to meet you. My name is Kevin, and this is my brother…” Kevin was interrupted.
“Sterling, Matthew Sterling,” Matthew interjected with both his eyes closed.
“I know this may be a very weird question to ask but why have you got your eyes closed?” Morven wondered.
Kevin responded on behalf of his brother, “I think it’s one of two things: either he is trying to be cool, or he is really scared. He’s been acting up even before you arrived, so it’s probably the latter.”
“Cut it out,” Matthew yelled.
He didn’t want Kevin to put him on the spot.
“Chillax bro. I was just teasing,” Kevin responded.
“But what are you scared about?” Morven asked.
However, Kevin didn’t allow Matthew to give an answer. “It is this plane. He is having flight fear.”
“Flight fear? I don’t know what is so scary about a plane. They are practically safer than vehicles on the ground,” Morven claimed.
Still, with both eyes tightly closed, Matthew responded, “It is not fear. I am just nervous because something about this flight doesn’t feel right.”
Kevin chimed in, “Ignore him. He has been babbling all sorts of nonsense.”
Suddenly, with his ticket in his hand, Segas, the last passenger to board approached the mocking brother. “I am sorry sir. You are in my seat. My ticket says 9D.”
“Oh! I am really… My apologies. I didn’t realize. However, I would really appreciate it if we could switch seats. I would really like to sit next to my brother,” Kevin admitted.
“Sorry my friend but I think I would just prefer to sit here, in my own seat,” Segas responded, keeping the remaining part of the sentence to himself, the one that I paid for...
Matthew shot Segas a very mean look that discombobulated and made him reconsider the option of switching spaces.
Segas broke a sweat and anxiously rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s no biggie. I guess it’s cool. We could trade seats. What is your seat number?” he asked.
Kevin replied, “Err…I am not sure.”
Morven quickly joined the conversation. “This is largely my fault; I had to take this spot, which is his really, because I traded mine with someone else.”
Segas raised an eyebrow, “What?”
Matthew chuckled. “This just got complicated.”
The complexity of the situation was observed from behind by Keiysha. She knew that if Segas took that seat, he would disrupt her plans; therefore, she had to step in, and as soon as possible. There was no choice but to approach the ninth row and intervene in the ongoing issue.
“I am really sorry. This is actually my fault.” Keiysha entered.
“Who are you?” Segas asked, flustered by the long-haired blond beauty now in sight.
This irresistible woman engaged the quad who had got themselves in a complicated discussion. It was no other than Keiysha. By the look of things, the three other passengers knew who she was. For Segas who had been interacting with them, their acknowledgement of her presence showed they must have previously encountered before boarding.
“So basically I am the one she traded her seat with,” Keiysha paused and brought out her ticket. “How would you like to sit at first class?”
“First class, you say?” Segas asked.
“Yes, my seat is at 5E,” Keiysha emphasized.
“Hell yeah! How could I pass up this opportunity but I am just curious, why?” Segas asked.
“Well if you come closer I will tell you.” Keiysha seductively leaned closer to Segas. “You see, we are not supposed to do this under normal circumstances but I gotta...”
Segas had been confused by Keiysha who had thrown her arms around him, whispering in his ears.
Segas responded, “I understand. I am a retired journalist myself, and I know that sometimes, you gotta break the rules, to get the facts.”
Matthew wondered what she was whispering in his ear. Is she a terrorist? Is she the grim reaper? Something about her is not right!
The black charmer turned around after the brief secret utters and moved towards first class, then he looked back. “You should look me up, Segas Brewry.”
Keiysha responded by smiling faintly.
Kevin asked her, “I guess we are all sorted now?”
As she headed back to her seat, she responded with a wink, “Yes, it’s all going smoothly.” Then she pranced over to her seat, moving her body with a seductive jive that directed his attention towards her center. Particularly at the curvature points. The other males within range got a good look as well.
“Well hot damn!” Kevin exclaimed. He turned to Matthew, “Did you see that?”
Matthew asked, “See what?”
“That chic totally digs me. I know I am hot. Blame our parents,” said Kevin.
“Wow! You should get a medal for that.” Matthew rolled his eyes.
From her observation of the brotherly duo, Morven who took a back seat laughed her heart out. Kevin was hilarious, and Matthew was grumpy—it was like watching her own private TV show.
The friendly entertainment was interrupted by an announcement from the pilot. His voice crackled through the microphone system within the planes interior. “Passengers, remain seated. Flight attendants, cabin crew, we are officially taking off.”
Matthew winced, “Great…” Let’s just hope this plane doesn’t blow up.
Morven replied to him with a comforting voice. “It’s alright. You’re safe.”
Kevin laughed at his brother. “You soppy wuss.”
Once the plane gathered momentum, Matthew grabbed his seat tightly, he locked his jaw finding himself tense just before the aircraft drifted from ground to airborne.
Morven slipped her hand under Matthew’s seat and held his palm to help him feel a little less tense. Beyond trying to help Matthew, being of help to people gave Morven a feeling of power. She could not explain it, but during their embrace, she felt a sense of dominance over him. It wasn’t an emotion she liked to take in so she brushed off the thought almost instantly.
When the plane reached skyborne heights, Matthew’s grip tightened up even more.
Morven noticed. “Don’t worry. See everything is fine,”
“I am not worried,” Matthew replied.
Then, as the plane balanced in the air, his grip softened. The sign indicated that he had calmed down. “See I told you it would be fine.”
“I never said it wasn’t going to be,” Matthew retorted.
He breathed heavily. He had held his breath throughout the whole take off. Not only that but whilst it was stabilizing in the air, he found himself losing his normal breathing rhythm. It seemed hard for him to adjust.
Kevin felt that at this point he had to join in the interaction between Matthew and Morven, he wanted to embarrass his brother, even if it was just a little.
“Wussy! Should I hold your hand too?” Kevin laughed.
From what Kevin could see, the younger Sterling hadn’t realized that he was still clinging on to Morven. His hand was still firmly in her grasp.
“Yeah…and the comedian award goes to,” Matthew fired rashly back at Kevin.
“Chillax bro,” Kevin chuffed.
“I will when you stop laughing,” Matthew replied.
“Whatever…” Kevin retorted, standing up from his seat.
“Where are you going?” Matthew asked.
“To take a leak bro,” Kevin replied, walking towards the toilet.
Turns out that while Mathew felt like he was gripping onto his life, the pilot had made the announcement that the plane had stabilized in the air; a sign that passengers were no longer restricted and could be mobile on board, something he had missed in the heat of it all.
Watching Kevin go, Matthew began to wonder if everybody in the plane was going to The Neo Dome. He began to hope that his dream had nothing to do with this flight.
Although the plane had stabilized, Morven observed that Matthew was still on edge. She could not understand what was happening. “I don’t get it. The plane has steadied itself now. Aren’t you supposed to feel better?”
“Listen, chick, it’s like you said, you don’t and you probably never will. Stop trying,” Matthew replied radically.
“I was only trying to be friendly,” she spewed angrily. “But if you want to play the jerk role then go ahead.”
The embarrassment got the better out of him more than he had realized. He had overreacted from the pressure. Matthew sighed, “It’s hard to explain. This flight…” he paused.
“Can I ask. Where exactly are you headed?” Matthew decided to question.
“I am going on a vacation, to The Neo Dome, in London. I am going to spend some time with a childhood friend,” Morven responded.
“What a coincidence! My brother and I are heading there too,” Matthew replied pensively.
“Wow! How random!” Morven cheered.
