Chris’s POV

Richmond, Virginia 2023

I grew impatient as I waited for my name to be called at the police station. Finally, I heard my last name and speed-walked into the office of one detective Barnes. I explained my case to him and he asked for all the information about her and I gave everything. Everyone around the station already knew her face. I ran my fingers through my blonde hair repeatedly until detectives Barnes shook my hand the station went into a frenzy. I walked out of the station disappointed. I couldn’t do anything but wait for the police to do what they could. I went over the details of the church, it had to be something supernatural. I grabbed my phone and cancelled my honeymoon plans and our vacation days since we wouldn’t be using them. I did the best thing I could do, I went home and changed into my black Adidas track pants and I went for a run. Smelling the nature of the woods filled my nostrils as it calmed me somewhat. It was serene for me other than the scream that I heard. “Help!” I immediately went directly to the source. I saw a man with his limbs ripped off and he was surrounded by a pile of blood. Immediate red flags went in my mind after I tried to treat his wounds. “No please! End it for me!” I looked at the man with a knowing look. I asked if he was sure and he nodded his head slowly, still in unimaginable pain. I grabbed his head and he closed his eyes. I asked God for forgiveness as I quickly snapped his neck. Shortly after that, I felt this indescribable pain all over my body. I felt one of the bones in my leg snap as I hunched over in pain. Is this karma for killing that man out of mercy? I could feel every bone in my body snap and I howled in pain. I screamed out in agony. Out of nowhere, I transformed into something else. I could feel the change. I looked down and saw paws where my hands were a minute ago. I would have been afraid, but the woods looked so beautiful from my new body. I could hear every sound and I loved it. I turned around and ran. I ran as far as I could and I loved it. I ran by a creek and I stopped to see my reflection. I was a huge dirty blonde wolf. I let out a loud howl and I continued running. Now that I had this body, I had a greater chance of being able to find Rosie.
