Ch 6 - The miracle boy.
They arrive at a village and see something spectacular- A boy meditating and people gathered around him. They have their hands out as if ready to catch something. The boy just continues meditating.
They go up to a person in the crowd. ‘What’s going on?’
‘This boy brings us miracles! You just have to wait long enough’.
After waiting for a while, they open the lid of a pot and there is fruit inside.
‘Oh mighty ____, we thank you for our gifts’.
Nima: ‘He’s treated like a God’.
In the crowd they see two shady figures./ They see a boy and a man watching from behind a building.
A person in the crowd explains, ‘This is a messenger of God. He meditates all day and all night, without needing food or drink. His intense meditation gives him divine abilities. He can conjure up fruit that appears in the pot’.
‘Wow’.
‘But some people worry about the boy’s well-being. Because he’s always sitting on that altar he has no time to make friends, and it seems like his older brother is always keeping an eye on him so that he doesn’t leave his spot.
The group find an inn. ‘Many people travel from other towns to see our miracles, so we have an inn for them to stay at’.
At night, Nima wakes up and hears whispering. She goes outside and sees two shady figures.
‘This will bring us riches!’ says one of them. ‘And because he’s so busy meditating he won’t even notice that he’s being carried away’.
‘And we can do something to distract his brother!’
Nima follows them and hides behind a building so that she’s not spotted.
‘I have to let the others know!’ she thinks to herself. But as she runs back, they spot her and catch her. They hide her in a sack.
The next day, Ashim and man wake up and see that Nima’s missing. They also hear a commotion outside and see that the boy has been kidnapped.
They let loose their snow bird, a huge bird that you can ride on.
‘Our Nima is missing too! Let us come with you!’ says Ashim.
They fly on the bird and look out for anybody walking through the snow.
Meanwhile Nima is with the kidnappers in a cave.
‘Psst!’ she says to the boy. ‘Can you hear me?’
‘It’s no use’, one of the kidnappers says. ‘He’s so deep in meditation he can’t hear what’s going on’.
Nima: Help!!!!!
‘Shut up!’
Whistle blows
‘Did you hear something?’
‘Isn’t that the cry of a narloff?’
‘It’s getting closer!’
They panic and hide behind stalagmites in the cave.
Switches back to Ashim and the gang. They’re blowing a whistle that makes that sound..
As they enter the cave, the kidnappers drop their hostages ad run deeper inside. The crew then finds Nima and the boy.
As they are about to leave, the thugs come back. Nima, Ashim, the man and the villagers together scare them off from ever kidnapping someone again. ‘The villagers together scared them off from ever kidnapping someone again’.
‘Thanks Nima’, said a villager, ‘We wouldn’t have known where you were unless you cried for help.
The boy turns out to be….
A messenger
The son of a god
A spirit
A shapeshifting animal
A lost soul
He is praying to get back home.
Finally, after returning to the village, the boy goes up into the air and disappears.
He is a spirit in a human body.
In his place, a cherry blossom-like tree appears in the centre of the village (except this one bears fruit). The boy’s family is made to take care of the tree.
