"Found it!" Tsuni shouted from a stairwell by the deck. He and Flecks had finally located the control room.
"GOOD! TURN THE SHIP!" Captain Rae ordered. He held onto the wall, bracing for an impact.
Tsuni hurried back down the stairs to presumably move the order down to Flecks. Though the sea spire was approaching fast. Elias's heart began to race as he watched everything unfold.
Of course- they didn't turn on time. The bow of the ship hit first, quickly compressing itself from the front inwards. There was nothing Elias and Rae could do except run to the back of the ship, so that's what they did.
As the ship collided more and more, the sea spire began to crumble itself. It fell directly into the center, poking at the big balloon keeping the ship afloat.
The ship's body began to rumble and churn as it was on the verge of falling.
This whole time, he was only with Captain Rae. Elias was in complete shock- the whole time he was worried about not just himself and Kristen, but all the friends he'd made on the crew- Adira, Flecks, and Captain Rae.
Everything was happening in slow motion for him, and sounds were nonexistent, until he felt Captain Rae's hand grasp his.
"It's been an honor knowing you, city boy" he said as he looked at Elias. His face unusually at peace. "Hope we meet again in The Great Beyond"
Elias nodded but he didn't reply, as he didn't completely understand what he was going on about. But he felt a little better, and accepted what was coming. He then closed his eyes.
The balloon had popped with a thunderous explosion. Elias's gut rose to his throat as they all succumbed to gravity. The wind picked up as the sped faster and faster.
The ground was no longer level, and Elias fell over. He fell through a hole in the cement. As he opened his eyes, he was still holding on to Rae, who was trying his best to not let go.
Within a few seconds though, Elias slipped. Rae's glove didn't stay on.
As Elias fell through the ship, a blood curdling scream escaped him before his head collided with something on the way down.
His vision faded as he watched Captain Rae shouting down at him. Howlers still swooping and soaring in the cloudy sky above.
"HANG IN THERE, ELIAS! HANG-"
Everything faded to black.
