ONCE UPON A TIME, there lived a knight of darkness. He was known for his raven black hair and his nobility. He was the brave protector of many lands. That is until he was cursed. A dark spirit cursed him to hate the world. The hate would turn him into a demon who would destroy the many worlds of this universe. Because of this, he was banished to a tall tower where he would spend his days with a caretaker who would ensure he stayed happy. Her name was Sunset. She was born of flames from the sun. She lives to serve humanity 'till the sun dies out. She has protected him in the tower for 14 years. During those years she grew fond of him. He became her only friend. Shadow would go to his window every morning before sunset came home from collecting food and he would sing his song of love. A fair maiden lived below the tower by her lonesome. She was named Melon after her love of watermelon. He loved her with all of his broken heart. She, on the other hand, though it pathetic for a knight to be locked in a tower. She knew he could not love him. She wanted a strong, noble man to love her. As Sunset got back from her outing, Shadow had made the decision to tell her how happy the maiden made him feel. So, he did. Sunset was disappointed by this. He knew he couldn't be with Melon. She went to tell him off but decided that he needed to learn the hard way. She smiled sweetly and told him that he may see her. Stairs of fire formed up to the window. She explained that he may only speak with her if she climbed up to him herself. He believed that she would so he waited. He sat and waited at the window for her for three days. Every day he sang his song for her. On the third day, out of curiosity, she climbed the stairs to see who had been singing for her and was met with the knight. He confessed his love to her and she accepted him, for he had waited for her alone. She climbed back down to get her things. When she came back though, the stairs were gone. "Shadow, dear Shadow, let down your hair!" she called to him. He came back, "What hair?" innocently. "How am I supposed to reach you if you don't have unrealistically long hair?" she inquired with sarcasm. He asked her to wait and ran to fetch Sunset. She refused to let the two be together so when Shadow asked to bring her up, she destroyed the stairs when Melon reached the top. Melon fell to her death. Sunset had blood on her hands. She tried to explain the Melon didn't love him but she did. Shadow looked at her with fury and sadness in his dark pools. His eyes turned blood red as the demon woke inside of him. He grabbed Sunset by the neck and threw her out the window to meet the same fate as his lover. He transformed into a horrible beast and conquered many lands throughout his life. Sadly, happy endings are rare to find nowadays. This is just life. THE END.
