“ Sissy, the barricades aren’t going to hold.” My little sister, Lilli, whined. Lilli was the cutest redhead I’ve ever seen. Her boyish hairstyle was really cute. Her blue eyes were no longer a blue of happiness but a blue of fear and terror. Even with her asthma, she was the most energetic child I’ve even seen. A fucking nine year old shouldn’t be going through this.
“ Where’s mom and dad?” I asked her. I ran out of my room in the old hotel.
“ They’re in their room messing around.” She replied running after me. Damn parents. Can’t even protect their own kids and are in their room probably making one. I scolded. The reason I said making ‘one’ is because Lilli and I where both adopted ( To be punching bags). I ran to our parents room and slammed the door open. And surprise surprise their both naked. I quickly covered Lilli’s eyes to protect her from the horrid sight.
“ WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING!” Dad- or should I say Oliver yelled covering up him and our ‘mother’.
“ The barricades aren’t going to hold for long, put some clothes on so we can leave.” I said calmly before closing the door. Uncovering Lilli’s eyes while I lead her to her room to grab some stuff for her. I opened her door and went straight to her closet.
“ Sissy? Are we going to die?¨ Lilli asked from behind me. God, why’d you have to go and ask that question. I whined in my head.
“No, I won’t let that happen.” I replied, grabbing a few outfits for her. I grabbed her Hello Kitty backpack from it’s hanger and stuffed her clothes in it. I walked out of her closet and saw her sitting on her bed. “ Got your inhaler and its necessities?”
“ Yep.” She smiled lifting up her inhaler in one hand a the other stuff in the other.
“ Good girl.” I smiled picking her up with her backpack on my back.
“ Wait! I forgot Mr. Sleeps -alot.” She said hopping down from my arms. Chuckling to myself I watched as she quickly grabbed her stuffed toy unicorn. She ran back over to me and I picked her up again.
“ Got everything?” I asked. She nodded her head and we walked out of her room. I walked over to my room and went in it. I sat Lilli on my bed with her backpack and walked over to my closet or to say weaponry. I grabbed a small pink pistol for Lilli which she named Pinkie Die. (I know dark even for a nine year old). I grabbed the ammo and walked out and handed it to her after putting the safety on. I walked back in and grabbed a shotgun, put the safety on and slung it over my shoulder and grabbed the bolts for it and shoved them into my pockets. Wearing combat pants have a great up raise in a zombie apocalypse. I grabbed the controls to the build before turning the light off.
When I walked out of my weaponry Lilli already put on her backpack on and had the pistol in a hoster. I guess she put the toy in her backpack. I picked her back up and we walked out of my room and down the stairs to the lobby. Before getting down their I put Lilli down and held her hand as we walked down the rest of stairs.Since Dakota doesn’t like when I act all motherly towards Lilli. Oliver and Dakota were already down there dressed and looking pissed, guns in hands. Once they caught glamps of us they walked over to us. Oliver raised the back of his guns once he got to me and hit me right in the gut causing me to double over.
“ Didn’t anyone teach you how to knock?” He asked as he did the same to Lilli before Dakota stopped him from going farther.
“ Honey, we need Juniper to drive so I’d advise you from hurting her right now and Lilli protects us.” Dakota whispered in his ear. He nodded and yanked me up by my arm to tell me to get moving. Dakota did the same with Lilli and we began walking. Oliver’s brown hair was messy as was his clothes. His green eyes still dark with lust. Dakota’s dark brown hair in tangles since no ones brushed their hair. Her brown eyes also still filled with lust. Sighing I grabbed the keys from my pocket and grabbed the controls as well. I opened the door the garage a walked over to Oliver’s BMW. I walked over to the driver side and got in as Lilli got in the passenger side as the two assholes get in the back. Starting the car I put it in drive and open the garage door. Luckily, no zombies were in front of it. Yes zombies. And I sped out of the hotel’s garage. I drove to the road and drove down it for about 30 minutes before the car started stuttering. God damn it!. I cursed to myself. Luckily there were no zombies in sight so I got out the car.
“ Sissy wait.” Lilli said getting out as well.
“ Get back in the car. I’m going to scoop out our surroundings.” I told her grabbing the shotgun from my back. Sighing she nodded and walked back to the car. God what am I doing? I asked myself. Walking around I found a storage container on a beach. I walked over to it to see all it had in it was chips and water bottles.
“ We could take shelter here.” I said out loud walking back in the direction of the car. Once I got back Lilli was sitting on the roof of the car for some reason.
“ Whatcha doing up there?” I asked her walking over to her.
“ Mr. Oliver told me too.” She simply replied hopping down. Sighing I knocked on the glass to the back and a noise could be heard from inside.
“ You've got to be kidding me!” I said opening their door to see Oliver on top of Dakota. Feeling like I was going to throw up, I quickly close the car door. Walking over to Lilli I gently picked her up.
“ Where are we going?” She asked wrapping her arms around my neck.
“ I found a temporary shelter for us.” I replied walking onto the beach. The ocean was discussing, oil filled the water, dead corpse of sea creatures washed up on shore, blood everywhere. Even the sight made someone want to do something about it. I walked us over to the storage container and put Lilli down. She ran into the container with an awe expression on her face.
“ Chips~” She sung. It’s been about three days since the last time Lilli and I ate any food at all.
“ Grab some and stuff them in your backpack.” I told her, grabbing water bottles and put them in my pouches on my pants. She grabbed almost a whole box of chips before zipping up her backpack.
“Done~” She sung slinging the backpack over her shoulders. We started heading out of the container when all of a sudden a n angry growl could be heard. When we walked out the first two people you could see was Oliver and Dakota looking more pissed than ever. Catching sight of me Oliver ran over to me and punched me in the jaw. Sending me to the ground.
“ DIDN’T I TELL YOU TO KNOCK!” He yelled kicking me in the side a few times before going for my head.
“ She did!” Lilli cried, as I blocked a few of his kicks. I looked over to see Dakota grabbing her by her hair and throwing her to the ground and begun doing the same to the crying child. Once the first kick landed an anger struck through me like never before. Stopping Oliver mid-kick I pulled him to the ground causing him the pass out. I quickly got up and ran over to Dakota and my little sister, I pushed Dakota to the ground and picked Lilii up. Carrying her shaking form bridal style and began running away from the two asshole into a forest near the beach. I ran and ran until I couldn’t run anymore. I finally stopped in a clearing of the forest and sat down, sitting Lilli down beside me. Lilli was a sobbing mess by now and was struggling to breath correctly. I quickly grabbed her backpack and fishes through it for her inhaler. Finally finding it, I immediately handed it to her and she began using it, her breathing began slowing and she set it down back in her backpack.
“ You’re alright now, We’re away from the bad people.” I told her pulling her into my lap.
“ Why did my real parents leave me to be adopted by those monsters?” She asked sniffling.
“ They must’ve had their reasons.” I told her the same response teachers told me. We sat there for about three minutes before hearing a familiar undead groan. Looking up from our spots two zombies were closing in on us. Lilli quickly grabbed her pistol, put safety off and shot both zombies in the head causing them to fall over dead for good.
“ Damn girl.” I mumbled getting up from my spot grabbing Lilli’s backpack and slinging it over my shoulder. She got up as well and grabbed my hand. We began walking guns ready before stopping at a cliff side. I let go of Lilli’s hand and advanced closer to the edge of the cliff. Looking down there was a pathway to a cove with a good size speedboat at the bottom. Hopefully it has gas. I mentally plead to myself before walking back over to Lilli.
“ Come on.” I told her holding out my hand for her. She took it without hesitation. We walk over the where the path begun and slowly proceed forward. It took us about five minutes before getting to the dock where the boat was.
“ Does it work?” Lilli asked me, letting go of my hand.
“ I don’t know, but we’re about to find out.” I replied calmly walking onto the boat. Lilli followed closely behind me gun raised ready to fire. I walked over to the steering wheel to see the keys still in the ignition. Lucky us. I cheered. I started up the boat and saw it still had a full tank of gas. I put the boat in forward and began driving it to the ocean.
“ Sissy is it alright for us to be taking this boat?” Lilli asked walking over to me.
“ No, but this boat is going to keep us alive.” I told her, stating the truth. She nodded and sat down beside me and stared out into the oceans. About twenty minutes out to sea Lilli’s stomach started growling. Chuckling to myself I put the boat on auto drive.
“ Let’s have a lunch break.” I told her getting out of my seat. Lilli smiled and sat on the floorboards of the boat. I did the same and grabbed her backpack. I handed her some Cheetos and grabbed some Lays for myself. Opening two of the pouches on my pants I handed her a water bottle before grabbing one for myself. Lilli immediately opened her bag of chips and began eating like a wild man. Chuckling, I opened my bag of chips and began munching on a few. Once we finished eating I went back over to the steering wheel and changed the direction we were going. Putting it back on auto pilot before going back to my spot beside Lilli. Thirty minutes out in that direction the wind began picking up. Lilli eventually got up to see what was going on.
“Sissy? What is that?” Lilli asked pointing ahead of us. Getting up once again I saw what she was talking about. Ahead of us was multiple cyclones. SHIT!!!!. I quickly pulled Lilli closer to me, guarding her from the pieces of wood, flesh, and dead bodies flying around the place.
“ Sissy, I can’t swim!” Lilli cried holding closer to me. She must be having PTSD. When Oliver thrown her into the pool at the hotel. I scolded myself for not ever teaching her how to swim.
“ Don’t worry. I’ll be your life jacket.” I reassured her, whispering soothing words to her for her to calm down. I noticed the backpack still in the spot we sat at for lunch and quickly grabbed it. I pulled it over my shoulders. Lilli began sobbing as I kept shielding her from the chaos. All of a sudden, a rip was heard and then something big and sharp scratched my back. I cried out in pain but didn’t stop protecting Lilli.
“ Don’t worry, I’ll save you two.” A small voice yells. I looked up to see a faint bluish white glow ilominationing above us. A weird sounding language could be heard before everything went dark.
