It had been a while, she wasn't quite used to it, she was never really into that to be truthful though deep inside she was just as savage as he was. He lacked the experience but made up for it in creativity and versatility. He couldn't quite explain it himself, what it was that attracted him so much to her, he just knew that with her he could. She on the other hand felt the opposite, she didn't want him, didn't see him in that sense and knew it couldn't be that way. All she wanted was someone she could just be calm with...but to every other man, that was considered boring.
She had to laugh at that, she didn't want to be considered boring, she was still waiting on that person who would bring her true natural savage out. Until then, she just lay there dormant, because so far...no one sparked her interest in having real competition. No one put up much of a fight for her, no one sparked her interest in that sense. She knew many who liked being dominant in the ring, that when it came down to the fight when they heard that bell ring, they wanted a true opponent. She, on the other hand, didn't fancy fighting, she liked the rush but it wasn't about winning. Like it was for the others, that or they did it for the thrill of dominating someone else. She would get in the ring, and fight...she wouldn't let herself get beaten up, but she wouldn't come out winning either. All she did while in the ring, was to test all the others.
She had a fighting partner, whom she took very fond of. At first, she did not like his fighting technique, she wasn't very used to it. But eventually, she noticed that he had a lot to teach her, and through practice, she came to like it just as much as he did. She felt like there was a lot to learn from him, and so much she wanted to keep learning, but she knew she would never be up to par with him. And that didn't settle in well with her.
Which was why, she knew she couldn't fully unleash her true potential...because her pride was at fault...if she unleashed it there was a chance she wouldn't win, and he'd end up teasing her, or not liking what she'd offer. Or he could tease and put her on the right path. So, instead due to her pride she wanted to find someone who wasn't as good as him, but someone she was better than. She also knew that was cheating because she had to find just the right person.
Someone who had potential but not enough experience to know she was messing up.
And so she came across an old friend. He had the potential but he lacked the style and experience, but she couldn't tell him that. Every man had his pride, and no man liked hearing that their technique in fighting was something that needed improving.
It had been years since her last fight, she'd come across many competitors. And he too...but for a strange reason, he never managed to fight her again. Since time had passed fate had put it upon itself to reunite them. It was a sunny day, and she was busy running errands, that she was so preoccupied that she hadn't noticed that she bumped into him. They both looked rather startled. The last time he'd heard from her, she was engaged and was happy as can be. But the first thing he noticed, was that there was no ring on her finger. He'd heard she had the potential of being the greatest fighter, but that she was selfish and had the tendency of holding back.
He knew damn well, he wanted to break that, break her and her pride. She smiled at him, and started to apologize, and pick up her mess. Was she always this clumsy? She seemed rather cute, actually he never really saw this side of her. He's only seen what she's let him, or what he's manipulated her into letting him see...which was still limited. He smiled and helped her, they spoke for a while...and he'd noticed that she'd changed so much from the last time they've seen each other.
She didn't seem that tall...she was small, lean, and firm. She was built like a fighter. But had the grace of a dancer. She never had much to offer, all he knew was that her looks were humble and modest. Though he liked that about her. Everything about her was humble and modest. She never prided herself, yet she kept herself from truly letting go just so that her pride wouldn't get hurt. They ended up chatting, and he didn't inquire about the ring...he decided eventually she'd tell him. But all she said, was that all fighters, eventually want a bigger stronger opponent, a better fight. And with a smile on her face, she kept it at that.
His male ego was ticking to have a go at her. But she was no longer interested in fighting. She had given up on that, and he couldn't bear to let her go just like that. So instead he provoked her to fight, he knew she was always easy to provoke, he just had to be smart about it. So they headed off, they stopped at her place, he noticed it was a small little place. He'd noticed she just recently moved there...so that meant her engagement hadn't been that long ago...she was still weak and easy prey. Instead, he invited her over to his place. He hadn't liked the mood that her place was given. And away they went.
She had liked his place, it was simple and unique in its sense, she had noticed it needed a feminine touch. That for some strange reason he was still searching or running; he was a hunter a true fighter and he was looking for either a good hunt or someone that would put up a good fight. But she didn't want that, she didn't want to end up being used, she didn't want anything, she wanted to retire and that's what she did. But she knew he was searching for that last fight. She gave herself a quick stretch and gave him a playful yet deadly smile.
The thing about her was that everyone always underestimated her. And she came a long way and learned oh so many new tricks. She was going to teach him a lesson, that if he wanted to fight her, she wasn't to go down easy, she wasn't going to be easy, and if he ever wanted to fight her again...he wouldn't fight anyone else soon after.
That was the rule of the fighters, once you find that partner you had to stick with them, train with them, and get stronger with them. So if they wanted to tame her, or even bring out the true fighter within her, there was a price and a sacrifice to make. But the thing was...he wasn't so willing to do either one.
The next thing, he knew he was pinned and the fighting began. She may have been out of touch, but she wasn't completely out of tune. And he had liked it, the fighting lasted for a pretty long time. Until eventually they both gave in, and the next thing they knew they were fast asleep. He woke up before her and noticed that she was still breathing heavily yet in a very rhythmic tone. She looked peaceful, though a little off balance. He jumped in the shower, and got ready, he left her on the couch because he didn't know where else to place her. By the time she woke up, and he was dressed and she snuck off into his shower. By the time she got out, all she had was his white shirt.
He nearly fell head over heels for her. She looked tired, yet pleased with herself. Pride. They talked some more and this time he wanted answers as to why she was now with no lover. She looked distant, she tried to smile...but found it tiresome. So she kept it half heartily. She had told him, that they were both ready, that everything was perfect. That it had all made sense, but that somehow she knew that maybe it was the idea that kept them together and not the actual cause. Hence, he ended up leaving her. She was a good fighter, but there were some things she wasn't meant to fight for.
She told him she had found her supporter and her fighter. But sadly, her Knight wasn't that much of a Knight at all. She knew full well not to fall for him, their pride was too big to overcome, and neither would bend to each other's demands, and she was tired of always giving in. She thanked him for the meal, and the fight. And left, never again to speak to him. After all, he was her supporter, not her champion. She had a fighter, but now she wanted a champion, someone who would stick with her, fight for her, make damn sure no one else got her. She thought she had it all...until all was taken from her. So now, she became the hunter again.

This was my first attempt at a short story I did back in '09, see how short I could keep it.

I really enjoyed this piece. Simply dust off the grammar and typos here and there and this is something I'd return to.

These are a small collection of poems, short stories, or what could have been novels, that I have written since '06. & now after more a decade, I've decided to share them all with you. Looking back, some stuff will be cringy to read lol...it's all an emotional rollercoaster, but hopefully you'll have fun with it, like I have, but in the meant time, enjoy my awkward queer weird self, as I go thru my journey of just plain awkwardness, & learning to heal, letting go, & moving forward, with life.
