“You did this!” She said in an angry tone as he rose from the seemingly dark abyss. He smacked his teeth and shook his head, disagreeing to everything she’s saying. “No, I did nothing,” he replied. The way he stares at her makes her feel paranoid; she’s terrified of him. Her paranoia shrinks down as unwanted memories begin to form within her brain: her mother on the kitchen floor, blood stains in both the living room and the kitchen, the knife he used, Susie’s dead body lying there on the soft 10-year-old carpet. Tears well up in her eyes, to have that memory play in your brain repeatedly is very traumatic. “You know what you did William, stop lying to yourself!”
“The choice to lie is inevitable. This is the truth I speak,” he stated clearing his throat in the process. The devious smirk appeared on his face as he cackled to break the silence, it echoed throughout the room causing goosebumps to arise from her arms. William stopped cackling and continued conversing about the matter before the girl could even say a word. “You can’t always hide from the truth and you know it. You remember what I did, but do you truly remember what you did? Do you Susie?” William asked in a devious tone. Susie shook her head and ignored what he said completely and replied, “stop changing the subject and turning the blame on me, you know what you did.”
All he did was laugh at her aggression toward him, the smile deteriorated, and he stepped an inch closer to Susie, intimidating her. “A scared soul, but she won’t admit it. How sad this is,” his right hand hits the wall which created a loud echo scaring the life out of Susie. No matter how hard she tries to get him to tell the truth, he turns the blame onto someone else and never confessed his wrong doings. However, William is a nice man. He’s only doing this because he thought it would teach them a lesson, or better yet, help them. “I’m not afraid of you Jay, I’m just trying to help you so please be honest with me,” Susie said sincerely. William growled, not because she called him by his last name but because he doesn’t want to answer to a 15-year-old.
“You have a problem, and you need help, mentally,” she stated as she made full eye contact with her uncle and squinted. William’s pale eyes stared deeply into her soul and did not look away one bit, his anger was building up while he listened to her. He shook off the thought and continued his questionable statement, “I did tell the truth, this was all your fault. You’re the one who caused me to do all of this, to kill people, to ruin your life, your birthday, everything. You know what you did.” Susie was getting frustrated and angry as he continued to taunt her directly. It’s not my fault she thought, I didn’t cause him to do anything, I would never hurt the people I love, never. She hadn’t realized that she had stood up and balled her fist, a tear slowly falling from her cheek for she didn’t notice that either. Her teeth clenched in pain of her past life; she doesn’t like the new life William gave her at all. “Everything was perfect before you stabbed me, our families were getting along so well. Mom was getting better, dad was getting promoted like he always wanted, Jamie was getting better grades in school, Salina was going to college, I was finally feeling more confident in both me and my talent, and you were being helped by a psychiatrist.” Bring back all those venerable memories gave a William a sudden wave of shock, it felt as if his heart had stopped.
“No. No!” He shouted at the top of his lungs as the sound bounced off the walls and created an echo louder than the last. The thought angers him, his hand was around her neck, ready to choke her to death. She grabbed hold of his hand and loosened his grip a little though and said, “Killing me a second time won’t do anything. It won’t change the fact that you killed your own family, and for what? Your own enjoyment?” He winced and loosened his grip on her neck a little more. She was telling the truth, and the truth hurts. He knows that now. “No, this wasn’t for my own bliss, this, was for you. I try my best not to hurt people, but that psychiatrist never did help me. In fact, it only made me worse. My urge to kill is now more powerful than anything else, and you can’t stop me. But you can work with me,” he said, putting Susie down on her feet.
“I refuse to help a monster like you,” Susie replied in a worn-out tone. She panted as she looked up at him and held the left side of her torso. None of those words meant anything to him, except for the word ‘monster’. He gritted his teeth. “I’m not a monster. I try not to be! There’s something wrong with me, and I know it. But you don’t have to force me to do things against my will; I choose what I can do! And I can kill!” Suddenly, the sound of sirens approached the abandoned building, this made William incredibly nervous. Before he went and hide, he shoved Susie into a broken-down ventilation tunnel and locked the only way out of it with the vent cover. Susie was gasping for air as she watched William fade away into the distance.
She started to hyperventilate, and her body was being squished within the narrow vent. Her eyes flashed a red light, showing that she was in danger and needs assistance. “Help!” She yelled as her voice echoed in the vent. Sadly, it wasn’t loud enough for anyone to hear her cries. Running out of options, Susie wiggled side to side, this caused her to slowly shift down the vent. Dust, dirt, and mold stuck to her body in the process, she whimpered as the walls shrunk onto her hips and sides. “Ow! I just need a way out of here,” a sound of someone walking below the vent could be heard. The vent cover was being removed; she could tell because she heard the screws fall onto the floor.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get you out alright,” an echoed voice said as they grab hold of Susie’s left leg and pulled at full force. She screamed as she fell onto the metal floor, she rubbed her side and looked up at the hole in the roof. “Who did that?” She asked, she got up and scanned the room but there was no one to be found. “Show yourself!” She yelled and growled as no one replied to her or walked out.
After a few minutes pass, someone finally spoke to her, a voice she recognized. “Greetings to the one he needed, and to the ones he should not have killed.” This caused her to lift an eyebrow in question, looking around the room for someone she asked, “What?” It mocked her and laughed wickedly. “Stop playing around HiFi! Come out where I can see you!” Finally, a figure approaches her from above and landed on the floor perfectly, the animatronic stood up straight and looked at Susie with a neutral look on her face. “I’m surprised you’d recognized me. Usually, I’m easily forgotten. Like I was forgotten by William Jay. Shame on him,” HiFi kneeled down and stared into Susie’s eyes with warning. “You took the attention away from me Susie Smilez. And you will pay.” The purple haired animatronic stood up and circled Susie, she didn’t say anything else.
Susie sighed and shook her head. “I never wanted the fame HiFi, all I want is my family,” HiFi jerked her head to look at Susie and laughed maniacally, she could care less about what she wanted now. She rolled her eyes as they were glowing in the process, “stop lying to yourself. You knew what you were doing, you’re just too scared to even admit it.” Why does everyone keep saying that, she thought, she shook her head and then looked back up at HiFi. “I’m not lying! What did I even do to you?” The female animatronic rose up in shock and walked toward Susie, she backed away from HiFi. She shivered whenever she touched the corner of the walls with her back. HiFi glares at her and said, “That day, you told him that I did something wrong, in which, I did not. I was put on parole to be put into the melting chamber, I was going to be shut off forever because of you!”
