“So, does this make you my boyfriend now?” Onyx hummed with a smile as he sat next to me his face a mess from eating, “I feel so warm inside~!”
“Please, stop being weird…” I sighed rubbing the red from his face with a loose cloth, “How did you get yourself so messy…?” I avoided his words in hopes that he would forget and allow my embarrassment to subside, “I swear… You weren’t planning on going out like this were you?”
“Mmm, Star…” The vampire whined with a pout as he lightly clung to the hem of my shirt, “Please, answer my question…” He begged eyes sparkling a bit as he pulled my hands into his, “If you really don’t want to go out with me that’s fine.” His expression changed as though something suddenly came to him, “I know it’s a difficult situation between you and me, so I don’t want to force an answer if that’s not what you want. Sorry, for being so pushy…”
My face burned as I squirmed my hands for a bit before slumping down a tad hiding my face from him, “You’re mean, Onyx.” I whimpered lightly lacing our fingers together, “Do you really think you can take back those sparkling eyes?” Despite the heavy thumping of my heart, I snuggled closer to the pink-haired boy. His hair had started to grow out and his natural dark roots were starting to show. I took my eyes away from it instead choosing to look at our hands tightly bound together, “There’s no way I can deny it now… As long as you don’t mind, Onyx.” I gulped loudly as I hid my face with my free hand, “I can be your boyfriend if you don’t mind…”
“Of course, I don’t mind.” The boy was beaming as he squeezed my hand tighter, “I really love you, Star, so I’m really happy that you don’t mind a shut-in like me.”
My face was still flushed a bright red as I peeled away from my boyfriend his warmth fading slowly, “I suppose you’re staying here then.” Somehow in the process of us talking things over the sun had started to rise, “It’s going to be completely light soon, so you should get some rest before this evening.”
“Okay, Star~!” The vampire giggled, “Where do you want me to sleep? I can sleep on the couch… If that would make you more comfortable…”
“No…!” I kept my face away from him as I rested a hand on his arm, “You don’t have to do that… My bed is big enough for both of us, so… Why not just sleep there…?”
Onyx turned perhaps even redder than I was as he carefully found his feet, “I won’t do anything unless you’re comfortable, so tell me what you want me to do, Starburst.” Despite his red face, his voice remained steady, “I don’t want to do anything that you don’t want…”
How embarrassing… He’s just trying to make me comfortable, but I don’t want to tell him such things… “You can hug me… and you can kiss me… I guess…”
“Okay, let’s head to bed then, Babe…” He gave a laugh taking my hand as I started to inch toward the bedroom, “Somehow that doesn’t feel quite right… I’ll have to come up with a pet name for you later…”
“Can you just stop talking for a while…” I huffed with a grumble giving the boy a glance over my shoulder, “My heart can’t take this…”
“Hmm…” Onyx laughed again as he came to lie next to me on the bed. We were both still dressed. Perhaps because there was no way my clothes would fit him. Perhaps because both our minds were such a mess with love and warm hearts, “Is it alright if I kiss you goodnight…?”
“Yeah.”
Our lips softly pressed together before we snuggled together as though it was only natural for us to do so. We laid in each other’s tight embrace through the daylight hours.
. . .
“Starburst…” Onyx gave me a gentle shake as the last traces of sunlight had started to diminish just behind the horizon. It was still extremely early, “I think this is the first time I’ve woken up before you.” The boy chuckled as he quickly pulled on his shoes, “I want to talk things over with Anthony, so I’m heading out early. Are you coming over today?”
“Sorry, I have some family matters that I have to deal with…” Please, don’t look so desperate… “I’ll call you later if you want me to.”
“Please do.” The vampire gave a gentle expression before giving my forehead a light peck, “Stay safe…”
. . .
I woke up sometime later with the sun long disappeared and the moon high in its place. The bed felt completely cold now and all traces of Onyx’s presence earlier that evening were gone. Did the bed always feel this cold when I woke up? No matter. I didn’t have time to linger on it since I had a train to catch.
It was a chilly evening with a few flurries dusting across the landscape as I found my way to my seat giving a sigh and a shiver as I plopped down, “What a pain…” I groaned taking a short glance outside. I wonder how that chat with Anthony is going…
