Stories and Lore of the Brew Wizard

Lore - The Nine Nations

Lore - The Nine Nations

Jan 23, 2020

This is the story of how the Nine Nations was formed in Langstay.

The Nine Nations currently consists of the nine most powerful, intellectual, and populated races inhabiting Langstay.

Justice Knottly of the Humans, Sylkas Kiggin of the Elves, Bale Frolrur of the Dwarves, Gamzokk Smoke Carver of the Orcs, Begg Gutbender of the Cyclopes, Lino Brovani of the Snakemen, Lughel of the Trolls, Dazgax Falsebub of the Goblins, and Snet Silverfangs of the Ratmen are the ones who formed the Nine Nations

It was found to be essential that there be peace between these races.

Before its conception, there were many battles.

Continued fighting between these races would have ended with the majority of them being wiped off the face of Langstay.

The fighting started when Sylkas Kiggin came to power, he felt that his late father didn’t expand their territory enough during his rule.

By the time of his father’s passing Gamzokk had expanded the Orc borders leaving Sylkas with next to no land to peacefully claim as his own.

Sylkas had begun to send troops to several Orc towns to free up the land for a new major city he was planning on building.

When the Orcs obtained help from Begg Gutbender, Sylkas sought out Snet and Lughel for assistance.

The Ratmen were by far the most populated race of Langstay with the Trolls being second, and when they joined forces with the Elves, Dazgax, and Bale spoke and came to the conclusion that this was a problem they couldn’t turn a blind eye to.

Justice was asked for assistance as well, but the Humans were, at the time, preoccupied in a power struggle of their own when an ethically questionable experiment led to the creation of Lino Brovani and the Snakeman race.

After a time, Lughel regretted the decision of aiding the Elves, for their side may have had the numbers, but the fighting force of Gamzokk’s, Begg’s, Dazgax’s, and Bale’s troops was far more powerful than numbers.

Lughel withdrew his troops after agreeing to the terms he was given by Gamzokk.

Terms were then given to Sylkas and Snet to accept defeat, lest their entire race is hunted down and slaughtered for their peoples’ actions.

They reluctantly accepted for they had no other choice.

The battle between the Humans and the Snakemen continued until a gathering of Langstay’s leaders was called for.

Nine leaders were in attendance, Gamzokk spoke of trying to harbor peace between them saying that fighting between them would not be beneficial to either side.

It was decided that there would be no large scale fighting between these races, a unified currency was to be decided upon, and that treaties were to be made to set rules and laws that no one is allowed to break.

For if there were anyone to break any of these treaties and it was brought to the Nine Nations knowledge, the might of all of the nation’s troops were to rise to bring an end to the offender.

Base laws were put into action, but it was agreed that Gamzokk, Begg, Dazgax, and Bale were allowed to have a law each to their own put into the treaties or to have a request fulfilled for being the victors in the war that had just ended.

Gamzokk demanded that he get his land back from Sylkas even though the Elves had begun construction of a city in that area.

There were some villages in the mountains of Dan’Burk which had been occupied by the Cyclopes until Dragons came seemingly from nowhere and started attacking causing the Cyclopes villagers to flee.

So Begg asked for assistance in regaining his land from the Dragons.

This request wasn’t accepted by the other eight races for none of the other leaders wanted to waste their army trying to kill Dragons, instead, a bounty was put up to anyone brave enough to kill any of the Dragons in the Dan’Burk mountains, paid out by the other eight races.

Dazgax wanted to implement a law that would make calling a Goblin “mini-Orc” or any variation of that be punishable by death.

The other leaders were confused by this request as none had ever considered calling a Goblin anything of the sort, but Dazgax persisted saying it was preemptive.

Finally, Bale wished to put into law that Dwarves were to be the only race allowed to make and distribute any type of alcohol, taverns were to be built in each of the other eight leaders’ capitals, select cities, and villages and each was to be run by a Dwarf.

After that, others were to be allowed to open up their own taverns but only allowed to sell ale bought from the Dwarven capital.

With all that agreed upon, the only issue left unresolved was between Justice Knottly and Lino Brovani.

The other six races concluded that the Humans were to blame, and because of the nature in which the fighting had started, it was decided that Lino was to be given three requests.

First, Lino wanted all the research that was documented from the experiments held by the Humans, secondly, he wanted a hefty sum of gold to be paid out by the humans, and third, the Humans were to evacuate and hand over one of their larger cities to the Snakemen.

Because of this, the Human capital became poverty-stricken and overpopulated.

With that, the Nine Nations was formed and there was some sense of peace among the people of Langstay.
