Andul Onyxfury is a Dwarf who lived in the Dwarven capital Blander-Dar with his brother Utram and their father Thurbain.
Utram was a few years older than Andul, so when Utram reached maturity, their father taught him in the ways of fighting.
Andul was jealous but he knew when he too reached maturity his father would teach him as well.
Before that could happen, Thurbain had met an early demise, he went to war for his nation and that war claimed his life.
Utram was not angered by the loss of his father, instead, he decided to fight for his nation as well.
Andul, however, was filled with anger at the loss of his father and the opportunity to train under him.
He asked Utram to train him in their father’s place, but Utram denied him as Andul had not yet reached maturity and also for the fact that Utram had already made plans to join the Dwarven army.
He went on to eventually fight in the war that formed the Nine Nations, and from there he and six others were chosen to be the envoy for the Nine Nations regarding Dwarven matters.
Andul searched for someone to train him, but no one would, so he attempted to train by himself.
He had found that dual-wielding axes is what he preferred entering combat with.
He had heard talk of a creature that attacked a nearby village and that it had killed several Dwarven villagers.
Andul found out that two of the victims were the mother and father, leaving their young child an orphan.
Angered by this, he decided to attempt to hunt this beast and hopefully slay it.
Tracking the beast seemed to come naturally to Andul, although, as he started to realize, it was no animal he was tracking for the tracks had led him to a different village that had not yet suffered and attack.
He started asking around and he was soon informed that there was a Ratman that had come to the village the day before.
Andul picked up the trail and found the Ratman in a nearby cave.
What Andul found sickened him to no end.
The Ratman had kidnapped a young villager and was eating them, the sounds of flesh slapping, bones cracking, then the beady eyes turned to Andul.
The Ratman only snarled and growled as he got up and started to run towards Andul.
The Ratman only had a small dagger and didn’t have the element of surprise on his side this time, so the fight did not last long.
After killing this feral murderer, Andul felt a small sense of accomplishment, the orphan’s parents weren’t brought back, but their killer’s life had been put to an end in some form of justice.
So Andul went on to become a professional tracker, tracking down those who have done wrong and attempted to get away from punishment.
Andul eventually met up with Utram over ale to tell each other of their journeys, Utram mentioned at one point about how the next day he was setting out at the request of the Nine Nations to speak with someone about how they were breaking one of Langstay’s laws.
Andul begged Utram to let him come along with his group saying if they need someone to help track, that he’s the one to ask.
Utram said that it was official Nine Nations business and that he could get in serious trouble if he were to interfere.
It had been several days past the date that Utram was supposed to arrive back, but there was no sign of him.
After some asking around, Andul had found out where Utram was sent to.
Without hesitation, Andul set out to find his brother, but to his dismay, all Andul found was a burnt down cabin with seven burnt Dwarf corpses inside.
Andul swore to track down the one responsible for his brother’s death.
First, he had to bring his brother’s remains, as well as the other Dwarfs’ remains, to their homeland to give them a proper burial.
When he arrived home he requested to see the King, Bale Frolrur.
Bale commended Andul on his tracking skills but denied him the resources to hunt down the one Utram had been looking for.
There was no evidence that the seven bodies Andul had brought back were, in fact, the remains of the Dwarfs that were sent, or that there was any legitimacy to what brought them there, to begin with.
Bale then requested that Andul continue his career of tracking for the benefit of others and not for his selfish delusions.
Andul listened to his king and took on a couple more contracts before hearing some information that pointed him in the direction of his most desired target.
He then headed far south to a town named Dunshun.
