I swung up on Aslan behind the boy and grabbing the rains I say, “Hold on,” and nudging Aslan into a kanter we ride to the top of the ravine. I gasp in amazement as I look down on a fortress in the trees.
The roof was made out of heavily leaved branches and could raise and lower to cover or show the maze of vines and wood rooms. My eyes followed the differently shaded branches of wood, leaves, vines and all the furniture well hidden in the surrounding canopy. I look down at the boy in front of me and saw the look of home in his eyes and smiled.
“So what's your name little one?” I asked as we waited for the others to catch up.
“I’m called Argent. I don’t know my real name but Archer gave me this one and that's good enough for me.”
I chuckled and pulled Argent back against my chest in a hug as I placed my cheek against his head. He tensed at first then relaxed in my hold and smiling I let him go then leap off of Aslan. Then Turning I hold out a hand to Argent so he could climb down and as I lifted him off His hair moved to reveal his face and I gasped. For there I saw a matching silver colored eye, only one the other was a pale green.
Argent quickly backed away and covered it back up, “Sorry I know it's disgusting.” He muttered.
“It’s not,” I said, kneeling in front of him and brushing a hand through his hair, “Look at mine,”
He did and I shifted the pale blue color in my eyes back to silver. He gasped and reached out a hand as if to touch but paused so as to gape in awe. I smiled and shifted them back, “I believe Argent that you are the same as me, only it's half of you where as its whole of me.”
“What do you mean?” he asked with a very confused look on his face.
“See there are a few people that are directly descended from the dragons of old and still have their gifts. There are the red dragons which have great strength but also a quick temper, silver dragons are agile, graceful, peaceful but can also take on an entire army by themselves, Gold dragons are the kings they have wisdom beyond their years and can call on those who have past for assistance.”
“Wow!” Argent said with excitement, “So we are descendants of these great beings?”
I chuckled and sitting down on the ground I looked out at the falling sun, “Yes, we are the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren of the silver dragon herself.”
“Thats amazing.” he said laying on his stomach, his head resting in my lap.
“Yes but there is so much more to the story then just that and if you want i can tell it to you tonight.”
“Awww why not now?” He pouted.
“The men have just arrived,” I said as the sound of hooves and feet stopped just behind us. Alec smiled at me as he walked over and help out his hand. I smile and gratefully taking it he helped me and Argent stand up. Argent then wrapped himself around my arm as we walked back over to Archer, who looked surprised to see Argent so close to me.
“Your home looks beautiful,” I said looking back over my shoulder, “We are lucky you offered to let us stay.”
“We are happy to give a place to stay to those who aren’t with the Sherif.” He replied smiling, “Now we must find a place to hide your horses, for they can’t climb trees.”
“Thats alright,” I said and turning to look at my elves who were quietly conversing with each other. I raised two fingers and their attention immediately snapped to me, “Everyone let your horses roam and take off all of the baggage. Put at the wagon at the base of this tree, we will take turns guarding it.”
“Yes, ma’am.” The slid off of their horses and undid the ropes and buckles that tied everything in place. Throwing their bags over their shoulder they put the hose gear in the wagon then whispering in their horse's ear they came to stand with me.
“Argis and Agress,”
“Yes Ma’am?” twin forest elves asked stepping forward.
“You two will take first watch since you are most attuned to this place.”
“Yes captain!” Bowing with a clawed hand over their heart they walked over to the big oak tree where the cart with all our stuff was.
I nodded my thanks before turning back to Archer, swinging my bag over my shoulder I say, “Well? Shall we?”
Archer smiled, “Follow me.”
He headed over to the rocky out ledge and pulling apart a few vines revealing a rope going all the way down to a platform in their hidden camp.
