Sasha went with Miru to the hospital and sat with him in the ER. It was several hours until Miru was conscious enough to talk.
“What’s happening?” He asked Sasha.
“Your at the hospital. You have a broken rib and stuff, we’re getting you all taken care of.” Sasha sat by Mirus bedside. A nurse came and gave Miru some painkillers, and asked him some questions.
“How old are you?” She asked, holding open to her clipboard.
“...19.” Said Miru uncertainly.
“Do you know where your family is?”
“No.”
“Whats your full name?”
“Miru Minato.”
“Date of birth?”
“I don’t remember.” Mirus voice was weak.
“When did you first start working for Mr. Krycek?”
“When I was 12, I think.”
The nurse wrote down his answers and gave Miru a reassuring smile.
“Alright hon. Well have more questions later, now get some rest.”
No sooner did the nurse leave then Chief slava walked in the door.
“How are you kid?” He asked Miru.
“I’m fine thank you and you?” Mirus voice was perpetually nervous and he watched the chief warily.
“Son, I gotta talk to you.” The chief said to Sasha. Sasha promised Miru he’d be right back, and went out into the hall with his dad.
“So, son,” chief Slava said, “correct me if I’m wrong...but I’ve noticed...well, you’ve been spending a lot of time with Mr. Minato, and...it’s seems you, uh, might have developed some feelings for him.” He finished awkwardly.
Sasha flushed and looked down.
“Yeah...I like him,” He sighed, “I’m sorry, I hope your not mad about it, cause of his background, you know, I hope you think it’s okay, I-“
His dad cut him off.
“No, no, it’s fine. What’s happened to him is no fault of his own. I was going to tell you...we haven’t found a place for Miru to stay yet. We sent the girls to a nice women’s home for now, but they don’t have such a place for boys, so...” chief Slava paused to look at Sasha, “I asked if we could take temporary custody of him at our house. Doctors said that’d be great, what do you think?”
A smile spread across finns face.
“Really? He can stay with us?” Sasha couldn’t help but envision himself watching tv with Miru, cooking him good food, and playing board games together.
Chief nodded.
“Why don’t you go ask Miru what he thinks?”
“Miru?” Sasha sat next to the boys bed, “we found a place for you to stay. You are allowed to stay at my house with us until you’re medically cleared. If you want.”
Miru smiled the faintest hint a a smile, which Sasha hadn’t seen before.
“Of course I want to stay with you.” Miru whispered.
