Zanhui didn’t give the demon enough time to finish his attack before redirecting his Bai Bing to stab the demon in the back, but he knew that other than interrupting the demon, a small trick like this one wasn’t going to do much.
Sure enough, the demon guard sensed Bai Bing approaching at high speed and moved out of the way in the last moment.
“Human scum,” the demon growled, and with a wave of its’ hand, it created a small blue energy ball, “tell me where's my lord, or I’m going to destroy this city.”
Zanhui gave the demon guard a dark look, “I am sad to inform you that I don’t have your young master. The prince is not, and never been in my region.”
“Lies. This one senses the young master in this part of the human realm. Where are you holding him? Tell this one, and he won’t harm your city. Lie again, and you shall be exterminated like the vermin you are,” the demon guard said hatefully.
Zanhui frowned at the demon’s word. If a royal demon somehow found its’ way to the human realm, unless it made a mess, no one but the demon guard would be able to find them.
This demon guard didn't look like he could be reasoned with, so to say anything more is useless. He should be thinking about a way to capture this demon instead. But first, Zanhui had to protect the people of his city.
“You want to know what I know about your master, right?” he said slowly, tilting his head to the right and smiling slyly. Zanhui placed both hands on his hips and leaned forward, “Beat me in a fair battle, and I’ll tell you. Harm my people, and I’ll end my life, and you will never know what happened to your master.”
The demon guard looked at the old man, and his triangle-eyes started spinning like crazy. He gave the city one last look before he dismissed the attack, “alright.” He didn’t look like he believed Zanhui, but challenging someone to a fight is a demonic tradition.
It didn’t matter if Zanhui planned on holding his end of the deal or not, once a demon (be it a demon guard or a demon noble) is challenged to a fight, it will agree.
A demonic ‘fair-fight’ is very different than a human’s – for one, a demon would consider a fight fair as long as the other side is not compelled to lose.
Zanhui challenged the demon guard to a fair fight, but the demon was holding an entire city hostage, and thus, the fight cannot be considered ‘fair.’
“Good,” Zanhui nodded happily while taking out a legendary item. The item looks like a crimson half-moon and is covered with bloody-red eyes.
“Hóngsè bànyuè!” cried out the demon guard.
“Ho, so you know this beauty, do you?” Zanhui asked with a large smile, “if so, then you must have heard the stories of her strength. This crimson half-moon of mine can use any paralysis or poison that is absorbed. You can’t win against her might!”
The demon guard ‘tsk’-ed, but didn’t say anything to counter this claim, before he rushed at Zanhui with two energy balls in hand.
Zanhui used his Kii to create a bright light that blinded the demon guard, who’s eyes are much more sensitive to light. The demon didn’t care about that. He could fight without seeing, this was nothing compared to what you needed to do to be considered a demon guard.
From the sound of Zanhui’s breathing alone told the demon guard everything he needed to know. He redirected the two energy balls to the old man's location and heard a surprised cry when the balls hit their target.
Yet, the demon guard couldn’t celebrate too soon because a moment later, a sharp pain sliced his midsection!
