"A rough night?" The man seemed to ponder over the question for a while before answering by simply repeating the question. Cold beer entering his smirking face in a large gulp as he left the question without an actual answer.
"You just look like you might be stressed out?" Noel said with a questioning tone as he debated on if he should be regretting the fact that he even asked the man about his night at all. He could see the man smirking and it was making him nervous about what he might do if he kept pressuring for an answer so he figured he would drop the topic if he man did not want to answer him.
"Not at all." The man bluntly said before closing his eyes. Just the moment before he closed his eyes Noel had felt a shiver run down his spine. He had been looking directly at the mans jade eyes and could have sworn the black of his eye had slit like that of a reptile or a cat before his eyes had closed completely.
"Your eyes.. They.." Noel could not help but let it slip from his mouth that he had seen the man's eyes shift.
"Name?" The man simply asked with his eyes shut calmly while he was drinking. His glass slowly lowering to the counter before he placed his free hand under his chin and leaned slightly forward in his seat. Slowly his eyes began to open until Jade was gazing at the bartender with a blank expression on his face.
"Noel Zinfon, but people just call me Noel." It felt impossible for Noel to understand what the man was thinking at that moment.
"Well, Noel," Jade's eyes glared deeply into Noel's causing the bartender to shiver slightly from his gaze. "Some things are better left unknown to a person."
"Huh?" Noel pondered over his words for a moment.
"For example.." Jade stood up slowly as he paced himself closer towards where Noel was standing across the bar and leaned towards him slightly over the counter. "When you ask a man you know kills people on a regular basis.. Are you certain that how his night was is not better left.. unknown to you?"
"S-Sorry." Noel forced a smile on his face as he raised his hands up in surrender to Jade's response.
For a moment he thought he could see a spark of something within that pair of jade eyes that were glaring so intensely at him. It felt almost like the man was testing him for his response towards his actions though he was not willing to take a risk on his very life to know about Jade's night. If he pushed the man too far he was worried it would result in his own life being forfeit over a simple conversation.
"You're stuttering? Is my night life that scary to you?" Jade smirked mockingly towards the bartender with his question.
"N-No! I'm sorry I asked about your private life." Noel tried to calm himself down while he could tell that the jade devil was simply trying to press him further for intruding on his personal life.
"Don't bother apologizing. If you want to ask I wont stop you from asking me but do not forget that curiosity can sometimes kill the cat if it's not careful. Especially when that cat tries to pry into the life of the so called jade devil of this city."
"It's just a question I would rather you not kill me over." Noel sighed heavily at the thought of dying over something so ridiculous as trying to have a conversation with the man.
"Did you hear me say it would be me who killed you personally?" Jade smirked once more before standing up straight and turning to leave the bar slowly.
His pace almost seemed as though his mind was contemplating over something as he walked to the door. When Jade reached the door he placed his hand on the frame and turned his head just slightly over his shoulder to glance back while he spoke.
"Remember even if there is a devil it does not mean one should not fear the demons as well. Take care of yourself," Jade paused for a moment as he seemed to be thinking back to recall the name correctly. "Noel."
After he left Noel could not help but to ponder over the meaning behind them. It sounded almost as though the man did not care about talking but feared that something would happen to those who knew more about him. Was he trying to send him a sign that there were others that would kill him for knowing too much about the jade devil? Whether he meant it as a warning or as a joke he could not decide which one it was. It would be crazy to think that he would die from someone else for simply trying to know more about the man unless it was the man himself who did the killing to knowing more.
"Gah! What the hell, why do I care about it at all anyways?!" Noel roughed up his own head as he felt like collapsing towards the floor in frustration. It was all something that made his head hurt.
At the moment the only thing he could hope for was to just have the rest of his day in peace without worrying about anything at all. It was already enough frustration to last for the whole week for him. If he could make it at least the rest of his day without a problem he would consider his day at least a half win for him for the fact that he made the man actually speak more then three words towards him without killing him. Once the day was over he was going to head to his new apartment and get himself settled in. There was already the highlight for the day so he was sure to himself that he could make it the rest of the day without coming across another surprise.
"Alright! Time to get the rest of this day over!" He encouraged himself out loud with clenched fists in determination to have a better time for the rest of the day. The fact that the others in the bar were looking at him in confused ways were not even registering in his mind at the moment because he was off in his own little world.
