“Everything went fine.” Onyx answered his face more serious than I was used to seeing it, “We talked things over properly and he promised me that he was going to try and be different from now on… If not… he won’t be my editor anymore…I made that perfectly clear”
“I see…” I frowned as I lowered my eyes, “You’re not doing this just for me, are you?” I gave myself a nervous squeeze, “I don’t want to mess with your career… I mean you’ve told me before that Anthony is really good at his job.”
“I did say that, and I know that I can’t do his job myself. I’m a good enough writer, but I’m frankly an awful editor.” He placed his hands carefully on either side of my shoulders, “It’s not just for you, Star. I’ve been needing to address this issue before you came, but I can’t stand him treating you so badly anymore. I’m not going to have either of us being harassed just for the sake of one editor that can’t put aside his personal issues when he’s working.”
“Okay…” I muttered softly rubbing my arm in my embarrassment, “As long as I’m not being a bother…”
“You’d never be a bother.” Onyx rose to his feet grabbing my hand as he lifted himself up, “Let’s get some sleep, hm? I have work in the morning, and it’s been a while since you were over here last, so things are starting to pile up a bit.”
“I suppose you’re right…” I gave a deep yawn as I pulled myself up using Onyx’s hand for support, “Where do you want me to sleep?
“You can sleep in the bed with me if you want. If you’re comfortable with that.” He slowly released my hand as we started toward the stairs, “If you’d rather there’s also a guest room right next to mine.”
“I’ll… I’ll sleep in your bed…” Onyx gave me an almost surprised look as a red heat rushed to my cheeks, “I just don’t want to make two beds, and it… It’s a lot warmer sharing the bed with someone.”
“Hmm, I see…” The vampire chuckled as he led the way, “I’ll have to keep that in mind.”
“Don’t mock me…” I grumbled following his lead, “I’m still not used to this.
. . .
“Mmmm…” Damn, I forgot to change my alarm last night… I struggled to reach for my phone that was plugged in next to the bed. Onyx’s arms were tight around my waist and his chin was settled nicely against my shoulder. He gave a groan as I finally managed to snag my phone, “Nnn, it’s still early so you can sleep a bit longer.” I told him as I unhooked his arms from around me, “I’ll wake you up in a little while.”
The pink-haired writer seemed a bit disappointed, but gave little response as he pulled the blanket over his head and snuggled into the pillow, “‘Kay…”
Wait a second… I Thought stopping as I came to the door, it’s one thing wearing his clothes to bed, but I can’t exactly wear Onyx’s clothes to university… I gave a sigh flushing a hand through my hair as I continued on my way, I’ll have to stop by home, I guess… Just as I came to the bottom of the steps I stretched as a knock came upon the front door. I strode to the door slowly stretching again as I took a peek outside, “What is Anthony doing here so early? I hadn’t exactly wanted to see the man so soon, but it’s not like I hadn’t expected that he would be coming around this place soon, “Ah, Good morning, Anthony!” I smiled forcing down my uncertainties behind a friendly mask, “You’re early today…”
“Yeah, I thought we could get a fresh start today.” The editor smiled back as his grip around the manilla folder loose in his arms tightened slightly, “I guess I should introduce myself.” He replied properly thrusting his spare hand toward me, “I’m Anthony and for the longest time I’ve been Onyx’s editor. It’s so nice to meet you!”
He what now… “Um yeah…” I replied giving little response as I timidly shook his hand almost gaping at the man by this point, “I’m uh, Starburst… Why’re you doing this?”
“I thought after everything I should reintroduce myself.” He then walked past me to the kitchen giving me little else.
I followed after the black-haired man hopeful that he hadn’t cracked or something of the like, “I’ll start the coffee.”
“Oh, thanks.” He smiled again as he sat at the table munching on whatever breakfast he’d brought with him, “Sorry, for bothering you so early.”
“It’s not a problem this is my job after all.” Okay, that proves it… That man is definitely broken… I jogged up the stairs this time returning once more to the bedroom that Onyx was inhabiting, “Hey, uh… Onyx.” I crawled onto the bed softly creeping toward the sleeping vampire who only gave a groan in response, “Oi, get your ass out of bed!”
Onyx gave a high-pitched shriek as he fell from the bed, “Starrrrr, what was that for….?” He gasped as he pulled his face over the side of the bed to glare at me.
“You didn’t wake up, so I had to wake you up somehow.” I gave a shrug trying to hold back my laughter, “It’s not my fault.”
“Did you even try…”
“Not really, no.” I answered quickly as I turned back toward the door, “Oh yeah, Anthony’s here already and I think you’ve finally driven him completely mad, so you might want to go downstairs soon.”
