I had left Cameron’s house, he had told me to leave after his defeat. We agreed to have a rematch at Thunder Creek Academy when we could. I spent the rest of the day preparing for my departure. I also practiced using my Ability, holding the electricity and putting it in my fingers. While doing this I accidentally released a small beam of electricity, it was strong enough to scorch part of the wall. My fingers ached for the rest of the night.

The morning was pretty straightforward, I packed my bags and got in the car. Mom was in a good mood, for the first time in awhile she drove the speed limit. At this time we were about ten minutes away from TCA the caride was pretty boring. “Loprez, i’m still so happy for you! I never dreamed of the day where my child would apply to a school for technique!” She said as we passed the corpse of a decomposed deer. I turned my head from the disturbance, at the same time we hit traffic. “Damn it! Stupid traffic jams!” She started pounding the Car Horn.

Out of curiosity I looked back in the direction of the deer, then I realized something. The area around the deer was decaying slowly. What should of been green grass was replaced a strange black dust which evaporated. “What are you looking at Loprez?” Mom shouted, still aggravated at the traffic. I pointed to the abnormal abyss which slowly consumed the area. The rate of decay suddenly sped up, consuming a whole tree in one seconded. The effect began to spread to the freeway, fear filled my body. People began to get out of their cars and run, some screaming, others crying. “Loprez Get out!” Mom said as she darted out the Car, me following behind.

Suddenly there were walls of the substance surrounding us, they where at least ten times my height. “ Loprez, do something!” Mom screamed, this was the first time I've ever seen her frightened. Releasing this it was hard for me to concentrate, I tried to calm myself down as electricity gathered in my legs. Jumping seemed like a good idea, but I did not know how far the corruption had spread. Maybe with enough force I could create a shockwave to push the corruption back. With an actual plan I began to prepare my attack.

Right as I began to swing my leg I felt something different, there was an intimidating presence, so intimidating it made me stop my attack. Mom and I stood back to back, electricity sparked from her palms. I looked above the walls to see a shadow moving along the treetops, suddenly it leaped off a nearby tree. “Watch out!” I shouted as a beam of the corrupted matter barely missed mom. I threw a counterattack by catching their landing with a boosted kick, they were knocked back about seven feet.They slowly laughed as they coughed up blood, their blood was so dark it could be considered black. As they got up I saw their pale skin and black eyes, there where patches of rotten flesh along his face. He was wearing a black cloak, there where many tears in it. “Accept death, you could save a lot of time” The villain said in a raspy voice as he began to walk forward.

Mom put her arm in front of me as she dug in her pocket, she pulled out a brown handle. “Loprez, watch.” She said in a serious voice as she tightened her grip on the handle. Suddenly one end of it started sparking with electricity, it extended about three feet into a sword shape. “These are called Controller Weapons, they are an important part of survival now and days.” Who knew my mom could wield a blade, how did she hide this from me for so long. Where did it get that power from, It couldn't be from itself, it was just a handle beforehand. I was so impressed with mom I almost forgot there was a villain trying to kill us. “Stalling time, or are you going to actually do something?” He charged at us.
