Rumfus and Cetrid arrived in a Troll city named Bellbury after having been tasked with eradicating a nearby spring of an Imp infestation.
Cetrid, being half Imp himself, felt they should try to reason with the Imps to move to another spring, but the Imps didn't want to be evicted to another spring since they had moved so far already.
The Imps came to a compromise that they would move if Rumfus and Cetrid assisted by moving their heaviest belongings to a different spring.
This was, by far, a more time-consuming solution to what they were tasked with, but Rumfus believed that if there was a solution to a situation that didn't involve fighting, that would be the route he would take.
Rumfus and Cetrid walked into Bellbury's city hall where Sigholen, the city's mayor, was waiting for them.
"Ah, Rumfus, you've returned!
I was beginning to worry that a pesky group of Imps may have bested you, I'm glad I was wrong this time!"
Rumfus smiled and walked up to Sigholen's desk.
"No no, Sigholen, that would be quite an embarrassing end for someone like me."
The two laughed as Cetrid nervously twiddled his thumbs.
Sigholen gets up from his seat.
"So I trust that the Imps have been dealt with?
I'm hoping you didn't get much of any blood in our spring."
Rumfus smiles.
"No blood, Sigholen, we were able to relocate their homes to another spring south of here, one that isn't being used by any cities or villages."
Sigholen frowns.
"Hmm... not the approach I'd have taken, those gangly winged freaks can be eradicated for all I care, but you did get them away from my spring, so you have my thanks.
Khimie at the front desk has your payment ready for you, farewell and take care."
Rumfus waves as he and Cetrid turn to walk away, Cetrid angrily mumbled under his breath.
"Gangly... have you... uh... looked in the mirror?"
Rumfus puts a hand on Cetrid's head.
"Come now, Cetrid, I know you're better than that."
Cetrid nervously looks away.
"He... uh... started it..."
The two proceed towards the entrance of Bellbury's city hall where Khimie waved them over to the front desk.
"My my, you must be Rumfus."
Rumfus leans up against the desk.
"And you must be Khimie."
Khimie smiles and puts a pouch of coins onto the desk and slowly slides it over.
"Y'know, Imps seem like amateur prey for someone of your... physique.."
Rumfus brushes his bare shoulder with his hand.
"Well, ma'am, not all situations require strength, although it most certainly is an asset."
Khimie giggles.
"Well, if you're looking to really test out your strength, I heard that no one's killed any of those Dragons out west in the Dan'Burk mountains.
I heard anyone able to slay one of those beasts would be handsomely rewarded."
Rumfus grabs the pouch of coins and scratches his beard as Cetrid looks up at him.
"Hmm... Dragons, you say?"
Cetrid tugs at Rumfus' robe.
"I certainly hope you're not planning on us going to Dan'Burk to fight one of those things, I heard there's one as tall as... uh... eight Cyclops standing on each others' shoulders..."
Rumfus pats Cetrid on the head.
"My dear Cetrid, how could we in good conscious call ourselves adventurers if we weren't willing to at least go there and ask around?"
Cetrid looks down and starts playing with his hands.
"I'm not sure I like the sounds of... uh... this..."
The two walked out of Bellbury's city hall, Rumfus looked into the sky and noticed that the great sky light was about to go out.
"Looks like it's getting late, let's find an Inn to spend the night, we'll set off to the west in the morning."
Cetrrid nodded.
They entered an Inn, Rumfus walked up to the Innkeeper.
"Excuse me, sir, I'd like to rent a room for the night as well a platter of steamed vegetables if you've got it, and for my friend here..."
Rumfus and the Innkeeper turn and start staring at Cetrid, waiting for a response.
"... Oh... I had a sip from the spring earlier and some... uh... grass... I'm alright, Rumfus."
The Innkeeper smiles as he looks back at Rumfus.
"Two steamed veggie platters it is then, in case the little one gets hungry, on the house."
Rumfus pulls two gold coins out of the coin pouch and places it on the counter.
"I appreciate it, good sir, but we don't accept handouts, however genuine or generous they are."
Rumfus walks over to a table, rests his staff against it and sits down as Cetrid climbs up onto a chair and crouches down on it.
"Hey, Rumfus, you're not actually thinking about fighting one of those... uh... Dragons, are you?"
Rumfus laughs.
"No, Cetrid, I don't plan on fighting one of the Dragons."
Cetrid sighs in relief.
"Oh thank you, you... uh... had me worried."
The two platters of steamed veggies arrive at their table, Rumfus picks up a fork and stabs it into the pile of assorted vegetables.
"No, my dear Cetrid, I plan on fighting as many Dragons as it takes until the mountains of Dan'Burk are safe for the Cyclopes to live in once more!"
Cetrid looks to the ground and lets out an anxiety-riddled sigh.
