It was a perfect day. The sun was shining and warming everything it touched. The birds were singing their songs after flocking back for the summer. Flowers and saplings were emerging from the ground to soak up sunlight- like the snakes.
"Enjoy your walk nature boy!!"
An eruption of laughter could be heard from behind the boy, and before he had a chance go turn a rock hit the back of his head, starting him so he fell over.
"Oh, thanks."
A boy with wearing a half zipped yellow raincoat with boots to match picked himself up off the ground.
He brushed off his knees and cautiously looked around, before continuing into the forest.
He hummed, the crunch of old leaves and twigs under his feet matching with his melody.
The unscathed forest floor soon turned into a rough trail that gradually widened out until it was met with a clearing.
A large, old tree twisted it's branched upwards towards the sky, its roots sticking out enough that the boy would have to jump or climb over them. The tree itself could've been an ancient artifact, a historic treasure that millions would come to see when it was uncovered, but for now, it was happy to be a peaceful retreat for the boy.
Small animals scurried away as he skipped up to it, staring straight into the sky to look up at it.
"Good afternoon tree. I hope you're having a good day today. It's very sunny and warm today, that's the kind of weather trees like I think." The boy smiled. He turned and climbed over a root, nestling himself inbetween two large ones that acted as walls.
He took a bag off, which had been doing over his shoulder, and reached inside for a notebook.
The boy then wrote stories of brave and wonderful people, magically creatures and the breathe taking adventures they went on. He wrote out all the things he had thought of during math class, and music, and gym, and lunch and science and E.L.A, then he drew it out.
This how the boy spends his days. Lost in an imaginary world deep inside a blooming forest. This boy's name, is Chris.
