DEAR MOM,
Hey, it's me, Martha. I wanted to write you this letter to let you know that I graduated last night. The whole damn family was there and it couldn't have been more awkward.
We went to eat at the Denny's over by the market (yes, it's still open) and Darleen practically ate everything on the menu. I swear the bill came out to like a gajillion dollars, or, something around that. Dad couldn't stop sweating when he pulled out his wallet. No one even offered to pay, especially not Darleen.
Anyways, after we ate, all the cousins came back to our place and we had a sleepover. They kept asking questions and talking about boys... I'm sorry mom, I just can't bring myself to tell them.
Grandma kept asking where my boyfriend was to which I replied "he's nonexistent, grandma." She asked "where's that?" and I think my brain broke.
Anyways, I woke up about an hour ago, stole this pen and paper and started writing to you... again.
I really miss you mom, I really wish you could have been there, I wish you could be here.
Love, Martha.
