“We are going to Archway Town. A place dominated by Pride,” Alfred seriously told the twins then added with a smile. “It is also the place where the two of you had been conceived.”
“I always thought that Mom and Dad grew up on this town,” Sol muttered, a bit surprised that his parents came from a different town and Alfred knew information like that.
“We haven’t asked them about that,” Luna whispered, realizing only then that he knew so little about the life of Dad and Mom before they became parents.
“I doubt they will answer if we did ask them about their past,” Sol said with a shrug of his shoulders.
“Archway Town was their hometown and also ours,” Alfred continued with a reminiscent smile.
“Wow,” Sol breathed. “You’ve known our parents for a long time.”
“Our families have known each other for centuries,” Dr. Jerami answered with a smile similar to his husband. “Fighting sins and helping people resist it, runs through our blood. But with the passing of years, our influence becomes weaker while sins grow stronger. Most of us eventually got exhausted in saving stubborn people. They chose to live a quiet life instead, away from dangerous sins that completely devoured human souls.”
“Mom and Dad got tired of the life you have? Is that because of us?” Luna anxiously asked. “Is that the reason Mom hates me?”
“They left Archway Town to keep you safe from Pride,” Alfred answered, looking angry. “He got obsessed in corrupting your bloodline. He was trying for a century but was not succeeding. He could not accept it. He is Pride after all.”
“Why our bloodline?” Sol curiously asked.
“Your bloodline had been uncorrupted for centuries,” Dr. Jerami replied with what seemed like a proud smile. “Pride could not accept that he could not corrupt yours when he can do that to other bloodlines. He got to our family nearly a century ago,” she sadly admitted with a sigh. “He keeps corrupting souls from our bloodline whenever he wants to and he never fails. Like what happened to our son Carl.”
“He will succeed on Mom,” Sol fearfully blurted as he remembered how small her remaining soul was.
“You’re mother is still resisting,” Dr. Jerami strongly stated. “That tiny soul left within her wants to be saved and we will save her. Pride will become more powerful if he succeeds in corrupting your bloodline. We should stop him from gaining more power.”
“How long will it take to reach Archway Town?” Luna asked, getting more anxious.
“It will probably take months,” Alfred answered, looking apologetic. “We need to get through other towns first before we can reach his. Towns that were also dominated with sins. They will try to stop us as they tried to stop Grandma Romera and Grandpa Emmanuel from reaching this town.”
“Wow,” Sol breathed with awe, momentarily forgetting his fear. “They can still fight sins?”
“They got help from people like us that still believed in humanity,” Dr. Jerami answered with a smile. “We can get help from them but we will be facing stronger sins because they want to get you Luna.”
“Pride didn’t want me to recruit an army of sins for him,” Luna was getting angry as he realized the true intention of Pride. “He wanted to corrupt me and Mom. Like Carl, we are also his targets but Mom and I are resisting his influence up until this moment.”
“When he succeeds in corrupting your bloodline, he can create army of sins faster than they used to,” Alfred corrected. “Like we said, both bloodline of your parents had been uncorrupted for centuries. And when the two of you had been born, a unique and stronger ability had been gifted to each of you. We already told you about it. He needs your ability to corrupt souls with a single touch because it takes months and years for sins to get it done.”
“They can never get Luna,” Sol confidently smiled and tapped Luna at his back. “We have a strong bloodline. We should believe in our ancestors that resisted sins for centuries. We should keep on resisting for their sake.”
Luna smiled and nodded agreement to his twin,” Let’s keep on resisting.”
“There is no better way to test your resistance than to encounter sins,” Alfred eagerly suggested. “I think we should head out tomorrow instead of the day after it.”
“Yes. Let’s move as fast as we can,” Dr. Jerami confidently agreed. “You don’t need to return to your house and get clothes. We have plenty of unused clothes here. You can use them.”
“Thank you, Dr. Jerami,” Sol and Luna chorused, both looking nervous yet thrilled.
