Calyx Sparks

Calyx was in a haze of shock all day, and he kept everything to himself until he caught the bus and went home. He decided to tell his mom because he told her almost everything. He got straight to the point. "A guy kissed me." She looked momentarily stunned, then asked for details. He told her about swim practice but left out how familiar Blondie was, and pretended he was some random guy. She looked thoughtful for a moment. "I would still accept you if you liked guys," She assured him with a smile. Calyx was relieved, but also disturbed. He didn't mean he DID like guys. (gay panic) He thanked her and went skating to let off some steam. It's going to be awkward with that guy who kissed me. He didn't even know the guys name…

He got home at about 8 p.m., in time to have a late dinner with his mom. To his absolute shock, his dad was there. He got up from the table and hugged him like they were as close as they used to be. Calyx hugged him back, but wasn't necessarily happy about it. At least his dad could hold a conversation at dinner time so there weren't any awkward silences. Of course, at the end of dinner, he announced he was going on a business trip. His mom visibly wilted. Calyx have the sudden urge to punch his father out. He resisted, but barely.

That night he dreamt about white hair and silver eyes. He didn't know why. Maybe because they were the opposite of his black hair and gold eyes? But he felt almost... Fond of the person in his dreams. So strange, he thought the next day. These dreams feel connected.

I am loving this story so far! A suggestion, if I may, it may make the flow easier to read when dialogue from different people is broken up into different paragraphs. Meaning he says one thing in one paragraph, then his mothers response (action or dialogue) starts on a new line below. Just my two cents! Hope it didnt come off as rude, I truly love this story and am happy your sharing it with us!
