“Mikael,” Joey said. He was the first one in the room and the obvious mistake was the first thing he noticed. “There’s only one bed Mikael.”
“Hm?” Mikael said, still tipping the bellhop.
“There’s been a mistake,” Joey said, walking up to the bellhop before he could turn to leave. “There’s only one bed. We need two.”
The bellhop looked up at Mikael, which upset Joey because why?
Why was it necessary to look at Mikael for guidance? Like he was the one in charge? Joey could have been in charge.
Joey crossed his arms and tried to look in charge as he stared down the bellhop.
“Um.” The bellhop finally said, looking back at Joey. “This is the room you ordered. It’s the Penthouse Suite A. These are the nicest rooms we have.”
Joey's brows shot up. “The nicest rooms you have only have one bed? What, you can’t afford to add another one? There sure is enough space in here.” Joey looked back at the rest of the room-well apartment really.
It was enormous.
Tall windows made up the wall on the far side of the room, giving them an amazing view of the city, one Mikael would no doubt spend hours photographing.
Joey knew the place deserved more attention and appreciation but he was tired and ready to pass out.
Mikael cut the bellhop off before he could speak. “I’ll go talk to the front desk.” He said, “See if I can sort this out.”
Mikael nodded resolutely then walked out with the bellhop.
Joey was left alone in the suite, he turned to look at it again, but before he could take it in, the door was opening behind him.
“Here,” Mikael said, quickly walking in and shoving a brochure into Joey’s hands. “In the meantime look at the brochure. See what you want to do. Everything is already included.” Then he turned and left.
Joey looked down at the brochure. A face of bliss looked back at him, a woman getting a massage. That sounded nice. He collapsed onto the sofa nearby and read through the rest of the brochure.
There was a lot.
This hotel offered every imaginable service, from a pillow menu to a soap concierge.
Everyone looked so happy in the photos. So relaxed.
Curiosity got the better of Joey and he pulled out his phone.
He let out a long whistle as the ‘price per night’ for the hotel came up.
“Shit.” Came out when he looked at the price for the specific room they had booked.
