"Riley?" the new homeroom teacher called across the classroom. "Here!" they called back in a soft yet loud voice. Riley was a tall, mostly thin fourteen year old girl, with a short brown bob and the left half of her head shaved, to make a nice striped design in her hair.
The rest of the class had their daily plans in front of them, but Riley had her plan, and sketchbook too. She loved to draw, that was all she did when she wasn't doing other school work. Her favorite class was art and her hands and clothes were usually dotted with paint stains or graphite marks. She was proud of her work at times, but other times, she hated it. Thought it was the worst thing. Ugly. Unwanted. Too thin or too thick. Sometimes she even talked about herself like this. But her best friends knew that it was all her imagination. For she and her art was beautiful.
